This is fantastic news. I was just thinking of doing this kind of thing with multiple instances of patterning 3. I hope the developer will put a quantized “jump” playback mode. Patterning has this. It means that switching between sequences does not interrupt the position of playback.

You could always record your midi effects into Loopy Pro as audio, then add effects etc, here is a video I made showing you exactly how to that. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZe9lI2nh9Obq5Isi=NxmeI1x-8Vtuseac In my next video for the new version I’ll show you how you can do it with midi too, in fact in the video you just watched some of those midi loops were recorded with MidiStep, of course, once the midi is recorded you can remove the midi effect👍😊

I've been focusing so hard on proper use of og (pre midi? Lol) Loopy Pro and a lot of backend sound design that I haven't learned or used any midi recorders or piano rolls, but have been desperately wanting to. But plugins just feels like their own educational tutorials, and I can't split focus easily like that Seeing the look of the midi loops and the subtle pulse of the volume sliders for the midi in the mixer... Holy sht I got a little misty eyed seeing it This looks amazing and I canNOT wait to get my hands on this beast!! Thanks so much for showing this and your continued extended support thru the community ❤

Great - thanks Doug! Do you know if midi loops will be quantisable? Also, I’d love to be able to punch in and out of audio loops like a regular DAW.
@TheSoundTestRoom2 ай бұрын
You have total control over midi quantizing, you can have it turned off, then go into the midi editor and do it from there note by note or selecting a few notes or all. You can also set it record all midi clips to a quantize amount of your choice, i.e 16ths, 8ths etc, it’s entirely up to you👍😊

I’m after a behringer midi pedalboard for my accordion. When I finally get one I will set it up to work with loopy pro. I like the idea of being able to start/stop mute etc loops using pedals leaving both hands free to play.
@dylanandzacmusic83512 ай бұрын
I’m hoping there will be a way to trigger a quantize with midi controller. It’d be awesome to program a beat and then quantize the snare/kick automatically. Also, hoping that we can use the native sampler with midi to load up our own samples to be triggered by midi. Michael is awesome
@Elwaves29252 ай бұрын
Midi tracks might actually pull me in to getting this. I did the trial but my timing sucks, meaning audio loops didn't work well so I didn't get the full app. With midi that timing aspect is eliminated. Cheers Doug, I'll have to keep an eye on this and your upcoming vids.

Looping Audio tru this type of setup, introduces just to much latency. Audio looping, use Real loop pedals! And MORE Plugins, MORE latency. so why MIDI, its only good for if u have a lot of Real hardware synths/gear
@dylanandzacmusic83512 ай бұрын
@@TJ-bx5pxI get zero latency with my setup. Try adjusting your buffer. There’s thousands of musicians who use it live with audio looping without noticeable latency.
@mygoogle15252 ай бұрын
@@TJ-bx5px I have no probs with latency. Hardware hosts arm and leg and it's bulky,plus loopy allows you to record anything as it's a daw as well. It is way supperior to any hardware out there.
@monkeybuilt2 ай бұрын
@@TJ-bx5px Once people try "this type of setup", they often won't go back to "boomer boxes" (I say this affectionately). Same with amp modelers. I have found that the biggest problem musicians have getting started in this ecosystem is getting over the stigma. Many are simply blown away once they give it a go. It's true that some plugins are not suitable for live performance (ie. I find autotune is too slow), but many work great. Loopy Pro is perfect for live looping and much more flexible and feature rich and expandable than any looper pedal I've ever seen. Connect it to a midi control pedal for hands free, insanely flexible looping. Be sure to use a class compliant audio interface, and as others have suggested, don't use a huge buffer (which is not needed for live performance anyway). As for "why midi"? midi is NOT just for "real" hardware synths/gear. It works seamlessly with plugin syths, samplers, etc. that are freaking amazing. Drambo being my favorite as it has built in modular synth functionality.

@mygoogle15252 ай бұрын
Donno bout a pedal ,but c9nnect your guitar to the ipad,you'll need audio interface and a usb hub with power delivery(i'd recommend anker). Usb hub to an ipad and audio interface to the hub.

Maybe its just the workflow but I've always felt Loopy to be intimidateing. Lot of menu diving, not very intuitive. Looking forward to the new full tutorial. Thanks,Doug

Looping Audio tru this type of setup, introduces just to much latency. Audio looping, use Real loop pedals! And MORE Plugins, MORE latency. so why MIDI? its only good for if u have a lot of Real hardware synths/gear. what u probably dont have sins u use an Ipad for music!

Why? To loop. It's a looper and daw. Ableton cannot handle well live looping,not to mwntion other daws

@@monkeybuilt but still isn’t this more for EDM artist and synth knob turners who use midi to fake a live performance? I just don’t see the practical use for working guitar players/singers. You could maybe Quantize drums, but then you lose the live feel. Loopy is becoming less a looper and more a DAW. Boomerang III or Boss RC-600 is better for working musicians that do real live looping.
@monkeybuilt2 ай бұрын
@@alteredwax5775 It's actually amazing for guitar (which is what we use it for). There is a nice guitar use case youtube video called "Max Yar Guitar Looping Setup with Drums". It's much more flexible and feature packed than any hardware looper pedal IMO. Dedicated looper pedals feel like toys to me now. Yes, Loopy Pro has expanded it's functionality and turned into something far greater than a looper (it's also a stable AUv3 host, mixer, and simple DAW). However, looping functionality is still intuitive and up front . It can be whatever you want it to be depending how you customize it. Our setup is simply an iPad(sometimes iPhone), Focusrite scarlet, midi foot controller, and a usb hub. Ever since apple embraced USB-C, it's a simple and reliable setup that fits in the guitar gig bag. We sometimes swap the interface with an iRig or XR18 depending on our needs at the time. Since we are also FRFR guys, we use all virtual AUv3 fx and amp sims, so we can create custom fx chains on every donut. All of which can be toggled from the foot controller. It's freaking magic. AUv3 plugins are cheap with negligible latency these days. If you already have an ipad or iphone, this setup is cheaper and way more powerful than a hardware pedal. A guitar only person might not have use for the new midi feature, but if they are exploring synth and drums to add depth to a live show, add a cheap controller (we are using a minilab 3 with a Launchpad X).
