I really enjoy your style. What colors did you use for this work? I'm really struggling on picking the base colors for each painting and I'd love to know. Thanks!!

Hi Thomas, my most used colours are: yellow and gold Ochre (very light wash for sky and much stronger for ground), B.Sienna for warm darks and mixing grey. I also use Cobalt Turquoise with Y. and G. Ochre to mix greens. I love lavender to add to sky for clouds, sometimes add Alizarine or Cad.Red Light and N.Tint to make them greyer and darker. Also, use Ultramarine for darker greens. I don't mind using a touch of White here and there (very little) if I missed a spot if light (highlight).

Another beautiful painting Nina! Aside from KZbin how many paintings do you do a week??? Do you paint larger or smaller for paintings not intended for KZbin???👍👍👍

Thank you Marvin! I usually paint every other day, but sometimes I do 2-3 paintings a day. The typical size is 30-40cm by 40-50. If I'm happy with the painting I usually repeat it in a larger format (~ half sheet or larger). I cut from a roll, the size is never proper 1/4 or 1/2 or full sheet. It's always somewhere in-between, but never smaller than 1/4 sheet.

@@marvinspates924 ogghh motivation is a difficult thing! I usually don't even think, if I want to paint or not... I just do it as a part of a routine...I noticed I actually do better job when I less motivated 🤷 when I too keen to paint I think I care too much and get too "careful". Hope it gets better for you soon!

Hi Nina, I really enjoy your loose style particularly the urban scenes, brilliant! I have a question: on your pallette you have cobalt turquoise in the upper left of your pallette, can I ask which brand of paint this is? I ask because the various brands appear slightly different shades. My preferred paints are Daniel Smiths but their pigment appear much greener in hue. Keep up the demos. much appreciated😊

Thank you Mike! It's Holbein. I didn't like the tone of DS...but my preferences always change... sometimes I wish for a slightly warmer turquoise 🤣 A few months ago I much preferred cerulean to C.turquoise, got the largest tube available, because I was going through it so fast... still haven't even opened it... still using the tube I had when I purchased the larger one.
