Hi Friends, today I am sharing watercolor painting of sky, sand and sea. Most of the painting is done wet on wet. If you struggle with this technique please find this demonstration on my patreon, where I explain every step of the way, including how much water to use, what color to mix and how and when to apply your mix. I will show you a few tricks to make painting wet on wet easy and drama free.
Hope you enjoy it. If so, like and subscribe. Come and find me on Patreon to paint together or just to support my art.
Have fun!
Nina.

Hi, this was based on a photo I took at Port Fairy, aprox 300km west from Melbourne (Australia)... The colour of the water was unbelievable...also I used my "artistic license" to simply the sky, add boats and people :)

Beautiful. I tried this one, but I don't think I'll be sharing my attempt. Some parts turned out great, but some areas were disasters. I do plan on taking another crash at it.

Thanks Justin! It's hard in it's simplicity. As always tonal values, paint consistency and brush work are the key. I would recommend picking one part, turning the sound of the demo off and just pay attention to what I do with the brush, 3-5 times over, or even more and then try to do yourself. If you are not getting the same result try to think what is different. It only can be these three things.

Yes I do, I explain every step of the way including what, why and how, colours, brushes, paint consistency, tonal values, sketch, composition, wet on wet, painting with only primaries, dry brush, colour and tone gradients, etc. If you subscribe, and want to learn (not just copy my painting) I'd recommend watching all the videos from the beginning, even if you don't want to paint along/have time to pain. There is so much information!

Thank you Carol! I don't remember exactly, but looking at the painting, I'd say I used Yellow Ochre, Raw Sienna, Buff Titanium, Cobalt Turquoise, Lavender, probably Ultramarine, B.Sienna and N.Tint for darker value tones. I always mix my colours to keep the painting harmonious.

Hi Chris, thank you for the suggestion, quite a few people asked about it. But, I often paint from: imagination, combination of photos, sketch from plein air, etc. I try to stay more true to the photo only when I paint for Patreon lessons (usually still change things around), but I prefer to keep them for the Patrons as a part of their subscription. Honestly, if you are learning, the photo is not important. Most important part is to pay attention to what I do with the brush, the paint consistency and the tonal value of the consistency. Hope this helps.
