Thank you so much! Have fun with the abstract landscape - it is so good to try different subjects. I was just thinking yesterday how I should try florals again, as I have always found them challenging

Thank you so much. But don't be so hard on yourself - anything is possible, and I find that once we let go of watercolour "expectations" and simply focus on the process and paint, paint, paint, things start falling into place.

As always I love your videos and learn a lot from each one. All the ones I have seen are landscapes and I am wondering if you ever do abstract paintings. My work is abstract and I would love to see any that you might do, if you do.
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching - so glad you find my videos informative. I rarely paint abstracts as I find them very challenging 😁 Plus I feel a strong connection to landscapes in general and I believe in painting what we are passionate about. But I would love to dive deeper into abstraction and explore it more, so if I have anything to share I will!

This is lovely. I love the colors and and was just mesmerized by your style and intuition. Thank you for explaining each step, color, and thought that went behind this. I just found your channel and love this loose style of painting. I am still what I call a beginner and hope to achieve this level of painting one day.

Anastasia it's so dreamy and beautiful!! I Love watching you paint!! You have a true artists feel for color combinations, textures and composition!! I will continue to watch your video creations! ❤️ Question What paper do you use and what brushes do you recommend I start with?
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Diane! Glad you are enjoying my channel :) I use 100% cotton paper, mostly cold press (you can find all the materials and brands listed in the description of each video). As for the brushes, it's a hard one because there are so many to choose from depending on where you are located. Most of the brushes I currently use are made by an Aussie brand called NEEF. I started with Princeton Neptune though, and I loved them. DaVinci Casaneo mops are great too. Soft round and mop brushes (synthetic squirrel) work best for me. I tried synthetic sable-style brushes (Princeton Heritage) but they are not "floppy" enough for my loose style. Hope this helps!

I have watched this demo endlessly and want to try it but I don't have Aussie Rde Gold or Oxide Red. Can you tell me what I could mix to get close to either of these colors. Many thanks. Lamoine Dionne
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! You can use a warm yellow mixed with a little bit of red as a replacement for Aussie Red Gold. Or any light transparent orange will work if you already have it on your palette. As for Transparent Red Oxide, it has quite unique granulation so it would be challenging to mix it. Burnt Sienna would be a similar colour but without granulation.

PS. What do you think of sable brushes. Mine are basically new, have had for many years?
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
I have heard amazing things about them but I have hardly ever used sable brushes (I do have one but it is not of a good quality and doesn't come to a fine point). I do love soft and floppy brushes so I mostly use synthetic squirrel ones.

Plus: How do you keep your paper from bucking and what poundage is it. Could this be done on a Watercolor Canvas?
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
I paint on paper blocks - the paper is pre-stretched in the sheets are gummed along all four edges of the block. This stops the paper from buckling too much. I use 140lbs 100% cotton paper. I have never painted on watercolour canvas but I think this can be easily done on the canvas too...

Merci .
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
Hi, it is hard to say but if you are using the artist's quality Winsor&Newton paint (not Cotman) I would say it's your paper... If you have access to Arches or Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton 300gsm cold press paper your professional quality paints should behave in a similar way to mine. The brands of paper you mentioned are not available here in Australia so I've never tried them.
