What he said about tall people dating is so true! I'm 5'10" but I look about 6' (cuz I'm really slim), and I wish I could get a man taller than me. :(
@hthumbs40727 жыл бұрын
BK Trust me as a taller girl I can tell you that people will always annoyingly make comments about your height. So having a guy taller than you at least by a little bit makes you feel more feminine and comfortable in a way. Plus having another person who understands what it's like to be tall even a bit is nice.

With the greatest of respect that is one of the most naive comments I have seen for a long while. In THEORY you are right but in practice...you are a million miles away.... My best Female friend IS 6foot biut deliberately says she is 5' 11 and a half ! Very revealing that Janet says she IS 6 foot which shows her security...

I am sure you are right Heather and, in addition, to those points I think psychologically and sub-consciously a Woman who IS taller than her Partner looks down on him with all its social repercussions...

As a girl who is 5'11" barefoot and 6ft+ with ANY shoe, I've found that it's the men who care more about height, because I don't. Even if we're relatively the same, and I decide to wear heels, they don't like it. (At which point I remind them that it's not like my height was a secret when we were first dating.) AND sometimes I can tell a guy likes me, but once he realizes I'm TALLER... he goes the other way. :( I honestly don't understand why it's such a BIG deal... Ironically, one of my very first teachers in grade school was a 5ft tall man who was married to a 6ft tall woman who wore high heels, so it gave me a totally unrealistic worldview, and set me up for disappointment as I thought that must be normal & someday I'd find someone who just loved me for me - regardless of height. LOL Not so. Shorter guys don't want anything to do with me, and taller guys usually go for short girls. So here I am: not "Six Feet Under" but 6 ft OVER... as in Game Over (the Dating Game). Don't even get me started on shoe size. 😅😂😂😂

It's not that we (I'm 6'9) aren't attracted to tall women, it's perhaps that we are initimidated by them! I'm just not used to talking to anyone face to face - everyone's usually at least a foot shorter me, and women even more so, so talking to a tall woman just feels 'different'! Perhaps tall men also feel they *should* chat up the tall woman in the room, but don't do it because that might be seen as the only reason they are doing it. Life can be tricky if you're tall :o)
@louiseschwendeman9203 жыл бұрын
The part that made me angry with him over this was that he wrote off all tall women as second class citizens who should just settle. We are every bit as deserving of the man of our choice as any other woman. People want to tell us off for insisting on a man of same height or a little taller when they never tell off a short girl who has refused to date a man less than a foot taller. Refused. I know some of them. Who is the greedy &itch in this situation?
@miao70022 жыл бұрын
@@louiseschwendeman920 I don't think preferences make someone greedy though
@louiseschwendeman9202 жыл бұрын
@@miao7002 While saying that is a joke, and I suppose could use a sarcasm font in print, do take note that nobody ever tells a short women she should open her mind to short guys when she will only date a man more than a foot taller than herself but dare a tall woman insist that a man be even as little as an inch taller, she takes crap from all fronts; even from other tall women who do date shorter men. I could not believe the infighting I found in some online groups for tall women with each telling the other she is wrong for dating shorter men or not dating significantly shorter men. Bad enough it comes from others. I took crap from my own tall mother when I dated a guy 6 inches shorter during college. I would not do that again but shouldn't tall women be allowed a preference too? I reject that we are somehow second class citizens who automatically get last choice.
@miao70022 жыл бұрын
@@louiseschwendeman920 of course tall women are allowed to have preference, I find it unfair to attack Greg for his preference! By the way, he has said before he doesn't like dating really short women because when he holds their hand he feels the urge to say "do you want me to buy you some ice cream?" lol I can't remember the quote word for word but it was along those lines. So I think when he says shorter women, it can mean women short than 6'8, which includes tall women too!

It makes no sense to me that anyone is comfortable with a huge height difference for their partner. I have dated shorter men and taller. The one who was 6 inches shorter was not a good thing for me. I was married to a slightly shorter one for 22 years...until he passed several years ago. Anticipating shrinkage with age I would choose a taller man now.
@lazthegreat103 жыл бұрын
"I've always dated shorter women" Shorter than him no? He's 6 8, he's probably dated 6 foot women, still short to him
@louiseschwendeman9203 жыл бұрын
@@lazthegreat10Always? That is sad if you are talking much shorter. It did not sound like he had dated any women even close to 6 foot. The "tall women just have to compromise" thing is what pisses me off. It killed my crush on him instantly. Tall women are as entitled as anyone else. This kind of thing kills the confidence of young tall women all the time and they end up settling when they should not have to. I do not know how the much shorter men some women choose could think that they are a first choice. We all consciously or unconsciously set our limits but nobody wants to think someone settled for them. My late hubby called when we were dating for just a few weeks and asked if he was going to be dumped for being too short. Blunt. He wanted to know before he got invested. I assured him he made the cut or I would not have gone out with him in the first place. Also blunt. There are women who do not care one bit, but most of us have been nagged our whole lives into keeping an open mind. It may be that they stopped caring or just gave up. One auntie of mine said "Give the short ones a chance, they might have money." This child of the 70s was appalled. I was also of the "Don't knock it till you try it generation. When I did so and was with a guy 6 inches shorter for a while during college my tall mother told me I looked like a moron going around with him. It was not exactly the pep talk I needed but it said a lot. My dad was 6 inches taller than my Mom. They met at a tall club. The fact that this shorter boyfriend of mine walked around with me like he'd caught the biggest fish is what disturbed me. Compensate much??? My mom loved my only 2 inches shorter hubby. Eye level is a nice thing. Eye level in heels is better. Ever noticed that nobody ever tells a short girl to keep her mind open to men who are under 6 feet tall, much less shorter than she is. I have a 5 foot nothing acquaintance who told me she never even dated a man less than a foot taller than she is and her husband is a little over a foot taller. So greedy. ;) I am now old enough to get away with telling couples with extreme difference in height like that that they (couple like themselves) are the reason short men would not leave me alone in my youth. There were not enough short women left for these guys. I gets a laugh from the guys but the girls look at me like I am nuts. I do not deny that. I thought it was a thing of the past but I met a tall high school girl who actually said she "can't wear heels" to her prom. My responses were: "Can't you find any to fit?" and "Who says?" There is no reason a tall girl should be deprived of pretty shoes because some boy is freaked out by her height. My hubby told me when I wore spike heels it made him feel more macho. He was not a tall chaser either. He was just a confident man. I understand a man happening to fall for a shorter women. I accidentally fell for my much shorter guy through being pen pals. Then he moved to my school. To purposefully exclude taller women is offensive... unless it is something like this: I did meet one tall man who when we got talking actually said he feels more masculine when he is with a shorter woman. I asked if his mother failed to teach him to pick on women his own size just to tease him a bit but the light dawned for me just then about many men who seem to feel the same way. He draws his self image from comparing himself to others. Somebody probably told him when he was a kid that being the biggest was the best and it stuck. If so, there is always the time when someone bigger comes along and ruins your self image. I was not in the market when I met this man but whole thing that would put him off my list. Why would I want to make a man feel bad about himself just for existing at my height? I prefer a man who draws his self image from who he is on the inside. One of the most interesting things I ever heard about a preferred height difference from a tall man who dances is that 6 inches is the ideal difference. He and his friends had discussed it. That way any heel height or height in pointe shoes just brings them more level and with or without shoes he won't have to bend so far down to do lifts. Awkward physics. Bad for your back. Also, he would not have to tilt his head down just to see her face. He also loved dancing with girls closer to his height...like me. He did wonders for me in my first partnering class for ballet...with me up on my toes no less. I am a little taller than he is when on my toes. Still, I would feel greedy demanding a man be 6 inches taller....but I would enjoy it. I still think Greg is funny as hell and kind of handsome. I probably won't get over his attitude about tall women. It still makes me want to punch him.
