I stumbled upon a glitch in World 6-10 when I was a kid. If you have the Tanooki Suit and turn into a statue before you get the Hammer Bros power-up, then you'll turn into a grey version of the power-up. However, you'll be unable to exit the underground area! A bit lame, but there it is.

3:10 I've often referred to that Magic Warp Whistle as the worst kept secret in video game history. You forgot to mention that The Wizard came out before Super Mario Bros. 3 did, so that was basically a commercial for the game, and they were telling you about it. Just about every product tie in at the time also gave "super secret hints" about one, two, or all three Whistles. The only secret in popular culture that has spread more is perhaps that Vader is Luke's father.

WOW on that last one! I had no idea they actually considered 3D graphics (albeit "2.5D" play)! Reminds me of those 3D parts of Super Paper Mario. Even before SMB3 came out, I was suggesting to Nintendo that SMB3 should be a 3D return to the original SMB (in contrast to the vastly different SMB2), since 3D or 2.5D "bas relief" graphics were the latest fad in classic arcade game revivals such as Pacmania and Blasteroids.

This was an interesting video, but what I like is that even though this was a video of Mario Bros 3 for the NES, it ended with music from Mario world for the SNES. Speaking of Mario world, after saving Toadstool from Bowser she thanks you by giving you a kiss. But depending on your size afterwards depends on where she kisses you. If your small it's on the forehead or between the eyes, but if your big with any power up she kisses either Mario or Luigi directly on the lips. Be aware that in the all star game, Luigi acts and looks different than his brother and is taller like in the anime, but I've never beaten Bowser with him in that game yet so I'm not sure if Toadstool kisses him on the lips when big or not. Keep in mind that he's even taller than Mario when small to, but only in the all star game. Also to see him do a funny but strange thing, get a fire flower for him and watch his reaction to spitting a fire ball. (Again only in all star)

@michaeldebidart2 жыл бұрын
Slight correction to the chain chomp fact, it’s not time based. It actually takes exactly 49 lunges or “yanks” on the chain for it to break free. This can be done in under 100 seconds or you could get a time over waiting for it to happen. It all depends on how fast the chain chomp yanks it’s chain.

The world 3 music is no way near to sound like fairy's fountain music : not the same style, not the same melody, not the same tempo, not the same chords, not the same rythm, not the same progression, not the same context...
@michaeldebidart2 жыл бұрын
Except for the pesky fact that Koji Kondo composed BOTH musical pieces and it’s a widely known fact that the one is a direct inspiration to the other. SMB3 is chock full of Zelda references, just because it has a different tempo or feel doesn’t mean they aren’t the same. Anybody that listens to both can clearly hear the similarities. By your logic the music that plays in the bonus stages in Super Mario Sunshine isn’t the classic Mario tune simply because it has a different feel to it.
@yoshinat132 жыл бұрын
@@michaeldebidart Uuuh, you didn't read what I wrote, right ? "Not the same melody" You clearly aren't a musician, otherwise, you would know music doesn't work like this : it's not because it sounds close to your hear that it is the same. By your logic, every single piece that, let's say, Mozart wrote, is the exact same. Well, no. To make a musical reference (in a video game or for example a movie), there has to be a similar context, and then, the music has to be the same, and not just sound a bit similar to non-musicians. It can be anything from a chord progression to a very distinctive rythm, a bass line or an exact melody (like in Super Mario Sunshine, as you said - same key, same rythm, same melody, similar context, you have a reference). If you want more examples to understand, you can see that in some Spider Man movies, at the beginning, during the Marvel logo, you can hear the original Spider Man's song (context + melody + chords + rythm), or Marcus Miller, during some solos, likes to play Prince's songs (context + chords + rythm). That is how it actually works. Obviously, Koji Kondo didn't reused the same melody over and over again ! (If you want an actual Zelda -not only- musical reference in a Mario game, there's Super Mario 3D Land, where you can solve a Zelda-like puzzle, which results in the very known Zelda puzzle jingle ; context + melody + key)

The reason why I love NES Games is because of how the music changes based on what other sounds have to play, it seems both can't coexist at the same time and this causes unique music segments to be created.

This happens because the NES only has 5 sound channels (2 pulse wave, 1 triangle wave, 1 noise wave, and 1 sample wave), and sometimes the sound effects of the game required one of the channels already in use by the music so the sound effect simply hijacks the channel while it plays.
