Loram Rail Grinder In Action, Rarely Used Spur Gets Action, Trains Passing Both Sides Of Me! CSX, NS

Loram Rail Grinder Shooting Fire! Rare Dupps Railroad Spur Gets Action! 2 Trains Passing With Me In The Middle! Train Horn Salute, Railroad Crossings And Norfolk Southern, CSX & Dupps Railroad Action! These Trains Are In Southern Ohio In The Towns Of Hamilton, Carlisle, New Miami & Germantown, Ohio. This Epic Video Is The One Your Dad Told You About!
Hobo Shoestring was found while I was filming this video. I did not find out about him being found in Boone Lake until I had finished filming. He was a great friend and we were planning on getting together soon. A couple of times in the past month or so he was riding trains and asked where I was. I was in areas that were too far for me to get with him. I had so much fun with him over the years and I was very fortunate to have him as a friend. We lost a legend. RIP Mark
I found the Loram rail grinder in Hamilton, Ohio. The first scene is a pacing shot on the engineers side of the train. I chased it to New Miami where we see it grinding rail at the railroad crossing. It went back and forth and then I caught it again at a railroad crossing in Trenton, Ohio. Again we see it go back and forth grinding the rail and shooting some fire. That was awesome! These scenes were on the other side of the train, the conductors side.
Then we see the rail grinder go up the Dupps Railroad branch to stop for the day. This is a very rusty 5 mile line that is owned by Dupps in Germantown, Ohio. Dupps uses the line maybe 4 to 6 times a year and CSX uses part of it to store the rail grinder trains and to store MOW equipment and to set out an occasional bad order car. It is very rare to see a train cross this railroad crossing and I got it on video! This rail grinder was hitting trouble spots on the line running behind the longer one that you see in the video parked on the Dupps line. I tried for years to get a train at this crossing and finally did.
After the rail grinder shut down on the Dupps line I went to the Union Road railroad crossing in Carlisle to see if I could catch a train or two. I got very lucky! While I was filming a huge Norfolk Southern train with a DPU, guess what happened? A CSX train came by at the other side of the crossing and I was able to film two trains passing at the same time while I was in between them. That was really lucky! Several other railfans showed up and we had a good time. We were also talking about Shoestring and trying to figure out where he was.
This video also includes a couple of scenes from a Dupps video of mine from last year. I wanted to show everyone watching this video what a Dupps train looks like. The train in this video is the most recent Dupps train to run the line. Dupps owns the line but only uses it every few months or so. The rails are always rusty.
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show near the end of the video. I also included an epic clip of Shoestring tagging a boxcar in Iowa that I filmed in 2021. I really do miss him and I wish I would have made a video of him telling some stories. That was something I wanted to do for the past couple of years but didn't do. I was going to do that when I came down for the Santa train in Virginia but just didn't get to it. RIP Mark

JawTooth. I watched a show a while ago about the high speed trains in Japan. They also take great pride in their railways there. Saftey is a high priority. In the early hours of the mornings a team of track saftey inspectors and grinding equipment travel together. I believe they mentioned their high speed rails saftey record is one of the best in the world. The grinding equipment is a little longer and is painted bright yellow. Inside the equipment a room full of high tech equipment.and engineers.Tight time lines. Traveling on a high speed is on my bucket list. Thank you for sharing. Very interesting. Cheers from Canada.

Some of the rail grinders are design or assigned specificially to grind crossings, switch outs, etc. The more expanded Loram units handle the main rail and lift their grind units at crossings and diamonds. Sadden to hear of Shoestring's passing, may he rest in peace.

Nice catch of the Loram Rail Grinder train (smaller version)., Jaw Tooth! You were able to capture the Loram Rail Grinder in action at several locations where we could see the sparks flying from the grinding wheels. WWoT has some videos of a Loram Rail Grinder train in action at night. The action at night is fascinating to watch. The Dupps Railroad line is a handy place to park the Loram Rail Grinder trains. The Norfolk Southern train and the CSX train that you caught at Union Road in Carlisle, Ohio were long trains and a great meet. Thank you for including the addition of the short video from 2023 of the Dupps Railroad engine picking up the two flat cars from the CSX interchange. That was sad news about Hobo Shoestring. May he rest in peace.

That NS train with the 3 locos was one of the longest I've seen on your videos, I counted 201 cars! Liked the variety of paint schemes on those 3 engines. The NS mixed manifest was absolutely fabulous JT!!!!! I mean amazing!! I counted 197 cars and I believe I missed a few. I was so impressed there were 2 new blue box cars with no graffiti! There were also some coil steel so wide they had to load them long ways, some plate steel, 3 locomotives and a DPU! One of the locomotives had special paint, also. It was the longest train I've seen east of the Mississippi! What a catch, JT!!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤

Pretty nice NS locomotive with " Working Hard To Make A Cleaner State" paint job, and a Fe Trading gondola car is one I've never seen before. Several years ago I watched a few Hobo Shoestring videos and the prompt at the end would recommend you tubers making videos of trains, I didnt know at the time it was called railfanning .
