Alot of people actually dont know that part of our history. They front teeth of coloured people were removed so that they wont communicate in their mother tongue. Slave owners wanted to hear every word and thats how Afrikaans was created. Alot of people think Afrikaans is a white language its not it was created by coloureds to communicate with each other. The slave owners spoke German, dutch with some french influence. Coloured people combined them so Afrikaans is a dialect of German, dutch and french. Today many coloured people remove their teeth wilingly not knowing where it came from.

Well I thought the reason why most coloureds from Capetown lose their front teeth is due to the snoek fish that they consume. Apparently it’s very salty & that saltiness when consumed a lot causes damage to the teeth & the front ones being sensitive because they are in front & easier to lose compared to the rest of the teeth. I was told by a young coloured girl from Capetown who had lost her teeth. This was the reason she gave me.

What annoys me is the tribalism that still exists in SA. Most of the people here a comment utter nonsense which isn't historically accurate. When the coloured classified was introduced in the early 20th century 1/3 of those people were pure khoisan. A large percentage were mixed due to centuries of colonialism and then there's also the Malays and other indentured slave groups. All of these people were classified coloured. Cape Malays are a minority in the coloured group so why are bantu african people trying to deny the coloured African ancestors? It's 2024 we have to come together and unite. As a coloured people we are trying to build our communities and identities as we have been uses for centuries as pawns in a game and made to hate and distance ourselves from our African routes. So please bantu Africans tribes we love you but please don't try to deny our African heritage let's come together and unite

Funny how the Dutch are the last explorers to arrive to SA shores and the found "Khoisan" exclusively. But when we read history of earlier explorers of Portuguese and Spanish and French and Arabic who were trading with Africans clearly describes the Bantu phenotypes they found in the shores of the tip of the continent. We had the Great Zimbabwe, Maphungubwe, inzalo Yelanga, Mwenemopata and Cafreria all heavily influenced by Bantu and all of them way ancient than you'll ever imagine. Europeans found alot of ancient history that they destroyed to push their narrative, we have ancient gold and iron mines here in SA dating back to atleast 2000yrs ago who do you think was digging there, aliens?

@@mr.blackzonrackz7055 But the British were the last to arrive in SA and had contact/conflict with the Xhosa and Zulu to the east. In the 1600s for the first few decades after the Dutch arrived they only controlled a small portion of territory around the Cape. It has been documented that as the Dutch expanded they did encounter the Xhosa. All the other things you have mentioned are also documented and accepted in scholarly circles (even among white scholars). What many people do not realise is that in SA ,it was the KhoiSan/Coloureds who were enslaved, the Black tribes Zulu, Xhosa etc were spared from the indignity of slavery, that is why Coloureds do not identify as Black ,because then it would mean that they would have to deny a significant part of their history , as painful as it was, it still contributed to who they are.
