Lord Grantham gets a fluffy surprise when the Dowager Countess leaves him a puppy.
Clip From: Series 6 Episode 7: When the Crawleys' return home, they are surprised to see Isobel alone in the sitting room with a letter from Violet, who had gone away for "fresh air" in the South of France and has left a present for her son as way of goodbye. Feeling more curious, they all go down, where all the servants are admiring the goodbye present, which turns out be a brand-new puppy, much to Robert's delight. He decides to name her Tiaa, who was a wife of one of the Egyptian Pharaohs.

Lord Grantham's knowledge of Ancient Egypt are a nod to the series location, Highclare Castle, which is owned by the earls of Carnarvon. The 5th Earl of Carnarvon funded the find of Tutankhamon's tomb, and there is a large Egyptian exhibit at the house.

Well such an adorable puppy!! How fun to have a puppy on the set!! I saw on one of the extras pieces included on the DVD set that the puppy was indeed very young and not house broken. He peed quite a lot. And didn't take directions that well, just wanted to play and sleep, which is of course what puppies DO. :-)

I loved this moment it shows how his lordship is all about family and loves his dogs ❤ Everyone says that they hate him and yes he has had his faults but so has everyone in the franchise, he really is a kind hearted, family orientated man who wants the best for his family and the place he stays in which he has said himself: "I was born here and I hope to die here" Showing his love for the abbey. It also helped him a lot when he had Isis and ofc Tio because without them he felt like he didn't have a best friend to rely on when he needed it most. ❤

I just finished reading The importance of being Earnest. Loved it. Was looking for dramas in a similar time frame and came across Downton. Now I just have to watch this series. Also, any man who reacts that way to a puppy immediately gains favors with me.
