This is a narrated video documentary of Lord Howe Island (17.5 mins) after a one-week visit to the island by Becca Saunders and Mark Spencer in February, 2024. Highlights include an over-view of the island's geography, snorkel diving at Ned's Beach and The Lagoon and a climb of Mt Gower.
See Mark Spencer's shorter additional video clips on Balls Pyramid ( • Balls Pyramid snorkel ) and the 'Old Gulch' and 'Herring Pools' ( • Old Gulch and Herring ... ) on this channel. They were both created after a second trip to the island in November of 2024.

Viewing from San Francisco, California, Mark. I had heard of Lord Howe Island. I enjoyed your video and look forward to visiting there some day. I have friends who have been to Norfolk Island to paddle outrigger canoes there. A very different topology indeed. I will visit your website. Thanks for the initial introduction to this beautiful place. I have not been to the land of Oz yet, but plan to.

Thank you Roji. I very much appreciate your feedback on the recently posted video. If you come to Australia - and I hope you do - you should include a visit to Lord Howe Island. As you say, it is very different in topography than Norfolk Island. But allow (ideally) two years of planning, because accommodation can be difficult to book within a year. Thanks too for looking at my website. The site (which needs updating) is on my book “Ocean of Self - Beneath the waves of our individual selves”. That book is a treatise on consciousness and spirituality related through my decades of ocean diving and meditation. I hope it’s a book to your liking

Great video of an awesome island Mark, and thanks for the heads-up about needing to book accommodation 1-2 years in advance! I'm a year older than you mate and still pretty fit, but I think I would have piked well before you, on that traverse across the cliff face🤣

@@musicman53 thank you for the nice feedback and also for the sympathy and understanding regarding my attempt to climb Mt Gower. Going a slower pace might have helped. If you haven’t been there before, enjoy your experience. There are lots of other good walks/climbs to do that aren’t quite as taxing

I liked the comment about your journey to birth beginning on the island. I, too, am your age and first went there in 1970 by flying boat with my parents and siblings. My first romance occurred there, and I would love to return for an extended period of time. I felt for you passing up the latter parts of the climb. As you said, a man has to know his limitations. It's better to forgo a view than a stretcher to the hospital or worse.

@@alc6799 thank you for your nice comments. I got a laugh when you said your first ‘romance’ happened on LH. Mine was ending when I went on that 1984 trip at 30 years of age. It’s a beautiful place. We’re lucky to have this island, still so pristine, off our shores
