Something to ponder... Hammer at one point was signed to Death Row at its height. And out of the vast majority of the people signed to that label, he basically left THAT label with little to no controversy of any sort. If that don't tell you anything regarding Hammer's pedigree, nothing will.

james cocker Nah that’s not what when keeping it real goes wrong means, try again. If Hammer went to prison over it while Serch was out here alive and well, then it would have went wrong for Hammer. Obviously Serch is the butt of that phrase as Hammer never went to prison and Serch is still fucked up over it and in therapy til this day all because he got butt hurt Hammer wouldn’t dance battle him 😂 All he had to do was apologize for his mans for talking about his mama and the shit would have been squashed, but noooo he wanted to keep saying it was just a clever play on words. He should have been like Redman and apologized. And he should have been fuckin furious with Pete Nice.

Its even funnier when you realize hammer had shit to do with it. He prolly just said, scare em. Rollin 60s dun rolled his ass up and smoked him...the hitmen listen to ur boss? You throw gangs signs up and then the other dudes leave? It doesnt take detective dipshit to tell this dude got just straight played. Security is when you pay others to fight others. Protection is when you pay others to simply not roll your ass. Edit: misspelling. But also....come the fuck on with his story to feel better. He paid for protection cuz hammer pointed out he had a check and was scurry. Like dude isnt he from the ne? Like. Mafia territory? Is this foreign to him because the diff skin colors fool him? This is bs. Hes a tard n doesnt wanna admit it.

@cyranojohnson8771

The reason I believe Serch's story and not Hammer's denials is because this story isn't about bigging himself up. It doesn't make him look "hard" or awesome or anything like that. It's just a dude trying to come to terms with some traumatic shit. By contrast, Hammer trying to play it off as Serch making it a "claim to fame," paired with Hammer making false claims about how much this group or that did or didn't sell, all really just comes off as gaslighting. Serch never claimed to be in the same league as Hammer sales-wise and anybody who knows hip-hop of that era knows, nevertheless, how important Third Bass were (both of their albums were, BTW, certified gold) and what Serch went on to do behind the scenes afterward. So his bullshit about how "his groups sold more records than that cat" is pretty transparent. Like, no disrespect to Oaktown's 357 or anything but... no. Just no.

Hammer was crossover and real MC’s felt some type of way. Back then, Hammer had a cartoon, cereal, and middle aged white people feeling him. That wasn’t the definition of Hip Hop back then so real Hip Hop heads weren’t feeling Hammer. Hammer actually paved the way for everything that commercial rappers have today...too bad it took 30 years for a lot of us to realize it.

If anything. The Rap founder is Coke la Rock. Run dmc got grief for it though. So did LL with puma. A lot told them support black brands. Like L.A. tech, British knight, Damage. Cross colours etc. But Hammer won't no punk at all he was never a battle rapper tho. I dont get the beef, but I think it was about jealousy, its is wrong to word play on someone mother you don't know, only in this guy head it was a beef between them,. In hip hop songs are called records. It’s a long discussed thing in the business. Like in rock music a record is 10-15 songs but in hip hop a record is almost always just one song. It goes back to DJ’s buying single records to spin. Get it?

@@TheRealCardz @R.L. Barnes did a quick explanation but I wanted to extend his original post a little! A record in this context is 1 release of some sort. If we would've spoken the language of the record labels it'd probably be; Single: 1 track release (sometimes with an extra track > remix etc) EP: Extended Play - Minimum 3 tracks up to maximum of 6 tracks. Album: Basically if your 'collection' of tracks are more than 6 then it's ranked as an 'album'. It was different before digital media was a thing but that's the easiest way to see it. CD, Vinyl and Tape are all analog storage units. MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, mp4 etc etc are all digital formats. All of those above can be referred to as a 'record' lol.
