Imagine if people stopped donating to religious organizations and started helping the poor directly.
@LadyFlawless3 күн бұрын
Poverty would be eradicated practically overnight. 💯 There are nearly 400M Americans in this beautiful USA of ours.... If every single one of our adult population (of at LEAST 250M ppl) gave $1 everyday to a fund that went directly to all of our impoverished/homeless people ( the ~38M Natural Born AMERICAN CITIZENS **ONLY**), NOBODY WOULD EVER BE BROKE AGAIN 💯 Think about it.... That would only be $28-$31 per month per adult.... And it would enable us to give each one of those impoverished people around $2,400 per day.... Making them richer than the rest of us and once they got themselves together (probably wouldn't take more than a few short weeks, A month at the most) then we could distribute that money evenly amongst the rest of us. That would be just under $230/day, which is still more than most of us make NOW.... That would effectively be a salary of a little over $83K per year.... WELL above our current poverty line. SEE HOW EASILY THIS CAN BE DONE? WE USED TO GIVE ABOUT $0.30 A DAY TO MANY OTHER CHARITIES FOR COUNTRIES (SUCH AS ETHIOPIA & SOMALIA) BACK DURING THE '80S WHEN SALLY STRUTHERS WAS ON HER CHARITY THING.... (Though I doubt most of that went to the people it was intended for 🤔 We all know charities are crooked as hell) Most of us spend more than that on pointless luxuries & personal vices DAILY.... 🤔 I've said all this to show that fixing our poverty issue is a lot simpler and cheaper than most of us seem to think... It could be done for $1 a day. All we need is a small group of honest, benevolent people to handle such a fund and make sure every dime goes to the people who need it & Not in the pockets of the crooked. I'd be willing to be a part of that group. I love the USA. I love our people. I want us all to prosper in comfort and in peace.... THEN MAYBE we can afford to help other people, But they still need to stay in their OWN homelands And fix them up the way we [could] fix this one😁😉

NO ONE…and I mean absolutely no one donates more than religious organizations outside of maybe super wealthy billionaires. People love to point out the bad in religion while completely ignoring the good. You can thank “religious organizations” for most of your hospitals, colleges and charitable organizations such as Salvation Army and Red Cross. Here’s the problem with your premise: most people have no desire to give at all🤷🏾♂️. But Christians are taught to give at least ten percent of their income and many do, much of which goes to the poor. Of course abusers exist and it goes to their pockets. But the poor WITHOUT religion…would be much worse off imo.

The church is nothing more than a social club where people go to dress up, socialize, and leave feeling good. It's not about helping people. It's not teaching morals and values. People use their churches for prosperity status. That's why many don't mind giving their money to the pastor to support the pastor's lavish lifestyle. It gives the illusion that they are well off because they are members of that pastors church.

Some of our people getting offended when the Republicans told them to pull yourself by your bootstraps. Which is what the Jews, Latinos, Asians, Indians, and Arabs have done. You don't see them scared and crying whenever a Republican comes into office. Because they built themselves up and work in fields that they don't have to fear any politician. Do charity work like make meals for children who can't afford meals at school. Make meals for disabled people at group homes. Take people to doctor's appointments. Help elderly get home aides. They helped me find a job and I was an atheist at the time.

I’m glad he specified SOME pastors and not all. People in the comments are running wild and taking a dump on religion and pastors in general. There are MANY good churches and pastors. However of course the light is shined on the bad. He’s also right about personal accountability and not depending on the government or anyone else. God is good. And He uses people to help other people. And we all need help sometimes. But the best way to know if a church/pastor is legit is simple: Do they preach to you that your SOUL is in debt and that you must repent of your sins, ask forgiveness from God and except that Jesus died for each and every sin? That is the most important thing in this universe. Ask yourself…

@@pgdarling301 , I remember I was working a part job and when Obamacare kicked in, I lost my insurance from my job and had to go on Medicaid Yeah, the doctor visits were free but they were limited because Medicaid wouldn't approve every visit. I had sleep apnea, Medicaid gave me a CPAP machine. I didn't like using it because it dried out my nasal passages and cause several eye problems, due to air escaping the mask. I told the doctors that, they told me to lose weight and I MIGHT NOT have to use it. I'm not even a big dude. Just a stocky dude with a little tummy. Someone told me to get a 2nd opinion and pay a sleep apnea specialist out of pocket. The specialist took several x-rays. Said that fat was not the cause of my sleep apnea. The specialist said the Medicaid doctors are just gonna keep telling me to lose weight because Medicaid doesn't want to pay any exploratory services to find another reason. I had to find a full time job. When my insurance kicked in, I saw some sleep apnea specialist who checked for other causes. Turns out that I had several issues with my nose (deviated, sinuses, nasal polyps) and tongue (too big). I had surgeries done on both (separate times), and my sleep apnea went away. Sold my CPAP machine. If I stayed on Medicaid, my ass would be still using that CPAP machine. My advice to people, if you're able bodied, stay away from government aid. I know many other people who been on Medicaid and say its the absolute worse.

Great point. Also, not all pastors and churches are bad. It is just the stereotypes overshadow the good ones. Then the people that don’t go to church use the stereotypes as an excuse to not go.

Jamar, although I agree with the part that we shouldn't expect handouts from the government, there are people who truly need those services. BTW majority of spending from government goes to foreign aids and the Military Industrial Complex. Maybe you should speak on that.

@10:15 in the 90s, Star Trek The Next Generation did an episode on the topic of a genderless society. The crew went to a planet where the inhabitants believed identifying as male or female was primitive, and that being non binary was evolved. Commander Riker became involved with one of them because it started to identify with being female, and she was arrested and taken away to be "reprogrammed" I was a teenager watching that episode and didn't understand back then.

Gotta love this guy. I dont agree on some of his stances but that's ok we all don't have to agree. But he seems like he stands for something and I respect that.

He's a pretty good live action actor. He was a main character in Oz on HBO. (Thats the show the people that did The Wire made before they made The Wire). Its pretty good.
