Lord Jamar: S&M Fantasies Are Based on "Slave/Master" History

www.vladtv.com - The always opinionated Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on comedian Artie Lange's recent rant involving ESPN's Cari Champion playing a slave in his sex fantasy.
Jamar says he thought the tweets and jokes were funny up until he started using slave imagery to describe the scene. The Brand Nubian rapper does, however, admit that Lange partially fell victim to our overly politically correct society. Still, he in no way is excusing the comedian for his comments.
Lord Jamar then discussed the roots of S&M fantasies, saying they originated from the slave & master relationship. Hear Lord Jamar break it all down above.

Real talk, one white girl I used to talk to in College was down with that kinda stuff. She wanted me to pretend to be a runaway slave and crawl into her apartment window. She was being on cosplay and wanted to buy one of those old-timey southern dresses. Couldn't go with it.

Yo Vlad. You should read the Golden Age of the Moors by Ivan Van Sertima, Nature Knows No Color Lines by J A Rogers and Ancient and Modern Brits by David Mac Ritchie. To get a perspective of slavery and world history from scholars that have a truth agenda other than hiding the truth to perpetuate fear and falsehood. Most things we learn about slavery has only been taught in school, European institutions of learning. Who designs the curriculum? So called black people suffer from more "mental slavery" than physical slavery. Other than what has been taught by European educators, what other hard evidence, substantial evidence do we have outside of some drawings of slaves in the bottom of ships and movies that were funded by Europeans? Khalid Abdul Muhammad said, "if the WHITE man don't treat you right, what makes you think he will teach you right?"

Gotta disagree with Jamar here, yeah Artie went too far in my opinion his rant was distasteful at best, but S&M is popular in Japan and European countries that have no history of black culture or black slavery. Its a power fetish, not a racial thing.

You sounds ignorant as hell! “Japan and European countries that have no history of black culture/slavery” you are an idiot! First off, the truth about my people exist in those areas because slavery DID NOT take place in those parts of the world. Only in America where slavery was is the truth about us African Americans swept under the rug. But they will make sure we know that we were once slaves. But Before we involuntary came to America we were KINGS and QUEENS, the first! Do your research. Secondly, Japan has been influenced immensely by us African Americans. Did you know the first samurai was black? He TAUGHT the Japanese emperor how to fight. So what are you saying dopey? White folks never want to hear the truth about my folks. It’s the fear about discovering the truth about me and mine. And it’s the fear of discovering that white folks are Not as powerful/smart as they appear to be. Also did you know that statistically it is white folks that are on welfar and not us minorities lmbo? I go to college and I learned that in my sociology class. America is 6 centuries deep in cotton money, 6. Now you marinate on that last comment.

The dislikes are because white people tend to prefer to expose their immediate oddities and nuances as "self-expression." However, if you dig into their psyche objectively the same way they analyze and classify all the other cultures... You will get poor reception... I'm not racist, I notice things... I have white people I know and love... fuck saying I have white friends, I really got some white people that have my back and really are color blind, in the sense of being flat out honest about people. We break faces all day, and we aren't ashamed of being called out. If you can dish it, you should be able to take it. These same things I speak of, they have noticed as well. Caucasians do not appreciate being analyzed beyond what they present to you to analyze... STOP SIGN, YOU'RE GETTING TOO DEEP...

MeAndMyCaravan Nope, nothing judgmental about sexual preferences... You're fucking cool man, I'm a freak with my ole lady, no S&M though... Nope I'm totally pulling a "Lord Jamar" on this one... I'm talking about how no one likes to be under the microscope, but Caucasians tend to react worse than any other race while simultaneously trying to "express themselves"... I'm confident in this cultural analysis b/c I know white people that admit it...

Vlad was wrong about slavery in England. There was slavery there but it was out a few decades earlier than in the U.S. Slavery on English soil was unsupported in English law and that position was confirmed in Somersett's Case in 1772, but it remained legal in most of the British Empire until the Slavery Abolition Act 1833.

How quickly they forget that their own African kings all owned hundreds of slaves, raided neighboring tribes to claim their people as slaves, and even sold slaves to the Arabic slave traders. All hundreds of years before white people ever had anything to do with it. And how quickly they forget that it was only white people that put an end to the slave trade and saved them from that hell

One again Lord Jamar is perpetuating his own pseudo-intellectualism when discussing things he knows nothing about. Especially when his views are in contrast with things he doesn't understand, but this is common with typical ignorant people who engage in conversations about things they have been told rather than what is true. First of all BDSM has nothing to do with racism and slavery, nor does the idea that people who practice BDSM were abused/raped/molested as a child. Also, the idea that people into BDSM were overly disciplined as a child or didn't have a strong mother or father figure has also not been proven either. As a matter of fact, a 2008 study looked at nearly 20,000 Australians and found that “[e]ngagement in BDSM was not significantly related to any sexual difficulties.” Not only that, but men who engaged in BDSM “were no more likely to have been coerced into sexual activity, and were not significantly more likely to be unhappy or anxious-indeed, men who had engaged in BDSM scored significantly lower on a scale of psychological distress than other men.” And a study from 2006 gave 32 self-identified BDSM practitioners seven different psychometric tests for things like anxiety, depression, sadism, masochism and PTSD. The people in the study appeared to have the same rates of psychopathology as the rest of the population. So not only is BDSM far more common than you might think, it’s also far less of a red-flag when it comes to health and psychology. People should educate themselves before opening their mouths.

There are elements and factors of that within slavery. Especially when the slave master or his guess would get turned on from abusing the enslaved black women. They would turn women into prostitute and force them pleasure the white visitor. They get a kick out of whipping them and asking if they like it. The women would have to sit there and take it

Historically, Britain was also a major hub/player within the slave trade, to the point there's a museum dedicated to slavery in Liverpool now. Many slaves that weren't sold in Liverpool were simply thrown into the docks where their remains stay buried to this day. America doesn't have a monopoly on slavery, but certainly monopolized overt racism.

There were slaves in England. The English treated slaves far differently compared to Americans. There was slavery in England but it was more similar to indentured servantry. Blacks were treated poorly in England and they were beaten, but not to the extent of Blacks in America. Also, the English brought most of the Africans to islands in the Caribbean rather than to England. America brought the Africans to America.

On slavery, from a strictly economic point of view: Slavery ended because the North explained to the South it cost TOO MUCH to keep slaves, that paying them a competitive wage (competitive with Whites) and leaving them to pay for their own food and accommodation was far more economical, and would result in more profits.

Dont know of any black dudes into it. But, I know some Asian people that lowkey take part. As for S&M representing slave and master I would imagine that has some part into it. However, this type of practice mainly focuses on the personal relationship between people instead of social relationships between races. I believe race is being interjected into a disturbing behavior that has its roots in a time period much older then the trans Atlantic slave trade.

Well said Lord Jamar, as usual you articulate and not all in your feelings like alot of people being interviewed these days. I do however disagree with your opinion and believe consenting adults can and do enjoy S&M without slave mentality, I certainly do.

Vlad slavery was widespread in England, a study found that about a year ago by going through the slave compensation records. Just thought you'd like to know.

I wikipedia'd bdsm and i saw something going back to 5th century b.c., frescos of whipping in the "tomb of the whipping", and a hymn to queen innana/ishtar, "describing cross-dressing transformations and rituals "imbued with pain and ecstasy, bringing about initation [sic?] and journeys of altered states of consciousness; punishment, moaning, ecstasy, lament and song, participants exhausting themselves in weeping and grief."[120][121]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BDSM. This was 2500 years ago and, 1900 years before the start of the colonization, genocide, and enslavement period of the world by European imperialism, post dark ages, which is how Europe got out of the dark ages from what I understand. It seems like using pain rituals for transformation has been practiced all around the world throughout history in different ways and I'm sure with all kinds of intentions.
