"There's things that we're both doing wrong." Lord Jamar is correct, but he needs to understand that feminists would never agree to that. The entire premise of feminism is based on the idea that women are never wrong and are incapable of being wrong -- only men are wrong. To call out a woman for her actions or tell her to accept some responsibility is "victim blaming" or "victim shaming" according to a feminist. I guarantee if men dressed as skimpy as some of these women dressed, they'd get a lot of lewd comments too (from both men and women). If I walked down the street in nothing but a gold thong and no other clothes, women will be staring, looking, giggling, pointing, and making comments. But using feminist logic, I would then claim that these women are "harassing" me and I did absolutely nothing to provoke it. Feminist women are the biggest hypocrites on the planet.

dana rann True but some women misinterpret and misconstrue a normal greeting as "harassment." How is saying "good morning" a form of harassment? I once said "Hi" to a woman on an elevator and she just had an angry expression on her face and buried her face into her phone. For the record, I say "Hi" to men and old ladies as well because it's just common courtesy. I'd bet if all men got together and joined in on a "boycott women" campaign where men never greeted women since feminists tend to think all greetings by men is harassment, then women would get butthurt about that too.
@MrGrownman45510 жыл бұрын
They don't misinterpret your greetings at all. Most women want attention period BUT they want it from the type of men that they find desirable.. A lot of this harassment thing comes down to this, men that women find undesirable attempting to talk to them. Now they can lie and say its all men but if you talk to enough women long enough you will find out that 90% of them didn't like the fact that a man that doesn't match their standards approached them lol 10% of this is a real problem but 90% of it is more fake American outrage.

Put yourself in the shoes of a woman. Why should I have to hear anything a STRANGER has to say about my looks etc? Then I have to deal with this all day EVERYDAY. For YEARS! why don't I have the right to be left alone? If you saw the video in question then you know the men were saying more than "good morning" one dude followed that lady for 2 blocks! Its creepy and unnerving. You as a man may be harmless, but as a woman out here its not safe nor smart to accept nor want random attention from strange men. You can't even ignore them cause you never know if thatan is crazy and will over react. My friends sister was killed at a stop light by a man who tried to holla at her and she rejected him. You have to put yourself in our shoes. We deal with a lot more than just "good morning"
@dana-os1ou10 жыл бұрын
*that man
@DiverseLA10 жыл бұрын
dana rann I agree it's wrong for the guy to follow a woman for blocks -- and Lord Jamar stated that too. But all interactions aren't the same. That can't be equated with another person who says "Good morning" or "How are you?" I also heard from women of a certain age that young women either dislike the attention or pretend to dislike the attention, but once they hit 40 or so, they enjoy any recognition and attention they can get. Which tells me they liked the attention for the most part, but they simply took it for granted when they were young. I'm sorry for your friend's loss of her sister. Whoever did that was a monster and likely had psychological issues. His actions do not represent the vast majority of men -- he was likely a deranged person. When you think about it, the woman who walked for 10 hours and received 100 catcalls -- how many men didn't catcall her? She walked around a city of millions of people and likely was in eyesight of thousands of men during those 10 hours. This suggests the majority of men do not catcall women. I know I don't because I'm somewhat shy so yelling things to strangers is just not who I am.
@dana-os1ou10 жыл бұрын
I understand your logic, but I'm talking from EXPERIENCE. Its easy to say "most women...this" "most women... That" but you're not a woman. And if women are saying they don't like that, why not just respect it? Instead of making excuses and/or examples of why "its not that bad" listen to US! we are the ones who have to deal with it. We are the ones saying we don't like it. Its like our concerns are falling on deaf ears. I know that a lot of men don't cat call, but its the ones who do that are making it hard on you guys that don't. I'm only 31 so I can't speak on what 40y/o think or feel. But we all know that everyone is different, so why not give ppl the respect of leaving them alone? You can't tell just by looking at a "regularly dressed woman" if she wants the attention or not, so just respect EVERYBODY. ( I'm speaking in general terms.. Not specifically about you)

as a woman, I can only half agree with this. it really doesn't matter what women wear some men will still "cat call" and harass. the woman in the video was not dressed provocatively at all and STILL got harassed. I think men need to understand that women are not here for, do not go out to hear the rude comments that come from some guys. some men act as if it's their right to yell out things to women. some men act like they're doing women a favor by doing cat calls. we all have the right to walk down the street without being harassed. why is that so hard to understand? the women who do dress provocatively usually want the type of attention they receive. but if it's just a regular woman on her way to .. where ever... LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE! men don't want to be harassed by police for no reason, well women don't want to be harassed by strange men either! it's all about RESPECT or the lack there of.

As a professor at a prestigious university that teaches modern music history and cultures and sociology, Lord Jamar is right on point 70% to 80% of the time! That's why there's a growing cult following across America and many of my colleagues at different universities across America are starting to watch and listen to many of Lord Jamar's interviews on VLAD TV, so as to educate and teach these ignorant millennial's about real life experiences and subjects. The only subjects/topics I don't agree with Lord Jamar are the ones where he starts getting into racial/racist rants about whites vs blacks, blacks vs whites within the world of hip hop and rap music and when he puts down gays and lesbians (I'm not here to defend any gays or lesbians cause I'm not gay, but I say just leave them alone, if they haven't messed with you). Other than this, I told Lord Jamar personally that he shouldn't worry about what others think of him and that he should continue to speak his mind on all subjects and topics. I tell all of you, forget this politically correct b.s. the mainstream media has been trying to shove down Americans throats all these years! Most mainstream marketed and promoted things are mediocre and don't teach you anything. Truths need to be told no matter if it hurts people's feelings!

Im sorry but if a man touches a woman without consent or yells "bitch give me your ass" he is 100% responsible for his behavior, NOT the woman. Its not just an reaction to a short skirt. Its hos shitty attitude and basically a crime. Men like this cant just say "well of she would wear a longer dress I wouldnt do this"... Its tje same like saying "the rapist just reacted to her skirt"...wtf? But I also agree that comments like "hey you are very fine" arent harassment and women are also responsible for it if dressing sexy...sure!! because its not harassment. This is my response to dana rann, a woman who is afraid of having an open discussion so she blocks others from responding. You need to understand the difference between being annoyed and being harassed. They are not, I repeat, ARE NOT the same thing. Let's say you're sitting on the train next to a mother and her baby boy. The baby starts crying his eyes out and there's nothing you can do about it because there are no other seats available and your stop doesn't come for another 20 mins. Are you annoyed by this? Of course you are. Would you consider this baby harassing you? Of course not. Street harassment is when someone intervenes with something you're trying to accomplish for the day. For example, If you're on your way to work and a guy grabs your arm and tries to holla at you, that's street harassment. If a man walks in your path and prevents you from moving forward because he wants to talk to you, that's street harassment. Even if a dude walks alongside you for 5 mins like in that video, that's street harassment. A man complimenting you on your appearance as you walk by is not street harassment. Women are like the President, who has the right to pass or veto things. If a guy tries to talk to you, you have the right to say no and you have the right to allow him to engage you. Just like a dude you go on a date with. You give him the right to kiss you or fuck you or whatever. If he takes any of it without your consent then guess what that is? Rape. That's never cool. You do have the right to walk down the street and not be cat called. However, as men, we also have the right to cat call you whenever we please. We can do this because of 3 words... Freedom of Speech. It doesn't matter how you're dress, if the guy finds you attractive, he's going to approach you. I would recommend you enjoy it while it last and when your looks fade, the only time someone is going to yell something to you is for you to get out the way. Finally, you're police example doesn't fly for this topic because the police stop people they suspect are doing criminal activity. It's not a crime for a guy to call you beautiful. There's no law that states I can't tell you how nice that dress looks on you. 2 different subjects. You'll have to use a better example than that.

It's natural for a man to express his interest in a woman in a respectful and charming way unapologetically. That's what you owe to the world as a man. It's called courtship. The people who disagree are most certainly unsuccessful with women. The misunderstanding is that when a woman denies your approach those with self respect will move on to the next without forcing the issue with the mindset that it's her loss. The forcing of the issue is where the problem lies, but otherwise courtship is courtship.

Muslim traditional dress is too far. I wear loose fitting jeans and t-shirts. I should be able too, without catcalls, but they still happen. Ugh.

Lord Jamar is the OG man gotta respect him for his honest opinion. Even if you don't agree with him you can tell it's well thought out.

I just discovered this video. And by far, it's the best one Jamar/Vlad has done. He made every single point I've spoken to feminist about before. We are becoming anti-social, indeed. They want men to not approach women at all. And we're also not expected to talk to them over social media. It creates a Catch-22. There's certain situation/areas where it's obvious not a good time e.g., while working out at the gym, or walking down the street. We are now living in a society that shuts down others. And that doesn't do squat. It just makes things worse, in fact. People often say I wouldn't like random guys talking to my mother, daughter, sister etc., and I obviously I wouldn't! No man would. But a guy's action - saying some disrespectful ass shit to a woman if she's with with me - will cause a reaction; I'll probably knock his ass out. And I hope he would learn his lesson. Jamar said everything I had to say, though.

i want to see a open discussion about feminist issues like this with a panel of educated people, men and women with different perspectives but not ignorant...i agree with points on both sides (men and women) but to touch on one "victim blaming"...it does no justice to what women say when they say that to men when men compare a boner to a girl walking around in tights...or showing their stomachs etc so it distorts the argument...not trying to write to much though i agree with Jamar on most of this

unbelievable - why cant men take responsibility for themselves. Women should be taken seriously even if they are dressed in a short skirt. geez.

If he can sit here and say a woman in a hijab or african garb requires a certain type of respect but a woman in a t-shirt and jeans doesn't require that same respect? What is promiscuous about a casual outfit? But yet black men get mad when cops approach them and harass them based on what they're wearing. She cant help if she has a curvy body and her jeans and t-shirt display that. It's not like she's walking around naked so the same respect should be shown. His logic is biased and flawed.

This fool said "elicidated". Shit like that makes me not take him seriously, trying to use big words that don't even exist to try and seem smart. Let me help you out, Jamar. It's ELICITED.

So you think your gonna walk around the same neighborhood for ten hours and think people aren't gonna speak to you and if they do it's harassment?? If anything I would've thought she was with the cops or some shit. But since this video dropped, I have definitely checked myself from even saying hi to nice looking women because now it comes across as being thirsty. I'm cool.

Heres something that i personally do that almost always gets a positive response from women. compliment their hair very casually if it looks as if it was just done. "oh hey, your hair looks nice...(walk away)" "did you get your hair cut/colored? thats a good look". that shit always makes their day. Why? because its a specific attribute that isn't specific to their gender but the hair doo was done for attention and you noticing first makes them feel that their money and hours spent in the salon was worth it. it doesn't hurt to be somewhat attractive too fellas lol

Ten years ago, i was walking to my friend's house and i was about to pass two white girls. When i about to walked past them, one of them slap my ass. That was more street harassment than i saw on that video.
