I think this version is the best because you can see and feel all the emotions within this dance. Innocence, attraction, jealously and love.

I see so much versions of this dance... and I totally agree!! It’s so 🔥😅

This is by far my favorite! - I wonder if real life how it played out, and if there was a reason it was more passionate than in feet of flames.

The slow walk and almost shy expression when Michael comes out is what cemented this as my favorite version of this dance.

This version is by far the best, flatly didn't know when to stop messing with things and it lost its charming simplicity The show became more broadway with the constant reinventing!

What I don't understand is, why -- once he had a winning formula -- didn't he branch out and try other stories?? There's so many things he could've done! Or brought in other people to tell new stories. I'm only now seeing all the times it's been redone, and I'm just like ... dude! There are other stories! heehee
@jocelynharris-fx8ho23 күн бұрын
I agree. Here in 2024, the show has become too sleazy and sexualized with the females in "next to nothing" costumes, the temptress is now wearing black leather pants instead of the beautiful red dress and the men are bare-chested..😮 yuck !!! No more focus on Irish dance and culture....now it's an hour long combination of Victoria's Secret/ Chippendales and the music is awful too. No more Ronan Hardiman....now it sounds like heavy metal music. The show has been ruined
@tamelamcghee14584 жыл бұрын
Hand-down, this was the best version of Lord of the Dance. Subsequent shows became a bit more trashy in nature. So unnecessary when the dancing and story speaks so much for itself. No need to ruin it. This was a gem. I remember watching it with my daughter from beginning to end. We were completely intrigued. Quite a beautiful masterpiece
@jocelynharris-fx8ho23 күн бұрын
I agree. I caught flack from people, when I mentioned that the show had become too sexually explicit. The segment known as "Breakout" has morphed into a strip dance, with the sports tops and high waisted shorts being traded for bras, thong underwear and stockings. The men are bare chested and the Dark Lord now looks like the Terminator. In this version, Daire Nolan had on a mask but you could still see enough of his features, that you knew what he looked like. In the more recent versions of the show, you don't know what the dancer looks like at all and don't get me started on the change in music.😮 Ronan Hardiman's compositions, were as much a part of the show as the dancing....now it sounds like heavy metal... Lord of the Dance got corrupted and I would not pay to see this show...unless it goes back to the original choreography, music and costumes.

@@Tom-pg4hi why does everyone always need to react so negatively? She simply meant that Bernadette was extremely young back then and Michael was and still is a Legend when it comes to dancing. Of course she would be nervous to dance with him, this surely must be like dancing with someone you idolise! Who wouldn't be nervous?:)

This was my grandmother’s favorite and me and my sisters watched this with her when we were little girls, I’m in my 30s now. This was one of my favorite parts as I admired the lady in red because I had dark, curly hair and never seen a princess with long, dark, curly hair like that even though Gillian was not a princess in LotD I seen her as one lol I too loved her red dresses and outfits! ❤ So much nostalgia this video brings 🥹

@VinsaKenobi12 жыл бұрын
I think then white girl symbolizes love while the red girl symbolizes lust, so when Flatley dances with the white girl it's gentle and beautiful. When he dances with the red girl, it's more intense and rough (in a way). After he tugs on her hair, it doesn't seem like she minded at all ;) you know what i mean.
@GravityGrave4 жыл бұрын
Morrighan (red) is literally the Temptress, meant to distract the Lord of the Dance from his fight against evil. To contrast, is Saoirse (white) and her love for him, which makes him stronger. Naturally there is a confrontation, but it's really a battle within himself.
@nahliinahlii778 Жыл бұрын
@@GravityGrave you know your stuff. I always wanted to know the backstory of LotD ever since I’ve watched when I was a little girl. But I always had the idea that the lady in red was seducing him for the wrong things and trying to steal him from the lady in white.

Я не понимаю, зачем Флэтли в более поздних версиях шоу переделал костюмы, надев на девушек прозрачные колготки, укоротив юбки, и нацепив трусы вместо шорт. Если в ранних версиях Lord of the dance и Feet of flames ощущается нежность в танцах, драматизм движения, то последние просто превращают танцоров в артистов кабарэ. Просто опахабили шоу. Не говоря уже о том, что в последних версиях у танцоров не руки, а грабли.
