He always looked best, when his face wasn't painted up and full of weird types of make-up. The costumes and strange make-up were a needless distraction from the dancing and music which should have been the focus. That's probably why so many people still favor Riverdance ; the wardrobes and cosmetics are not extreme and the men don't look like warlords with blue eyeshadow and markings. Keep things conservative and let the dancing and music, move the show along.
