Totally understandable. It uses way too many adjectives which distracts from the main story.

@@TheQuincyEdwards the imagery from golding is what makes the story so beautiful and really emphasizes the dehumanization of the boys in many parts of the book. often, they're referred to as "lives" or "shadowy figures". just overall paints a bigger picture. however, i do like more naturalistic writers like steinbeck in of mice and men. rarely any imagery.

And this is where the book starts to get REALLY morbid. Although, I am petrified of the voice change, it's a great touch to tell that the Lord of the Flies is a literal incarnation of a demon or even Satan himself. Eh, I just got shivers.

I know that this comment is old, but the title itself is a reference to Beelzebub, who was sort of like Satan's right hand man so to speak. In the bible Beelzebub would come to mortals in the form of flies, swarming them and injecting them with evil.

I read better if someone is reading to me, but I have to follow along. This really helped me read it and taking notes as I listened. And a great touch to the contrast between the boys, narrator, and the Lord of the Flies (the monster).
