I answer to myself: this is because Eowyn's action does not say "Exhaust to..." (contrary to e.g. Beravor, where exhausting is a cost). Wow! Always played this one wrong, and no wonder why I found using Eowyn was too much of a gamble! Thanks a lot for your sessions, they are extremely useful.

Is there a reason you weren't attacking 3 times with Dunhere into the staging area (once for a normal attack and two more times for both Unexpected Courage cards)

Wait....the entire reason you like this quest is it's not luck heavy and capable of destroying you with a bad draw....but your entire strategy is so strongly built around a single card being in your opening hand you've PRE-planned mulligans to get it?

Well, I think most card game players have pre-planned mulligans.. and not just for this game. All decks function though card synergies and combos and the decks power is directly linked to how fast those things fire. So any good deck in ANY game has optimal cards you are looking for in the opening hand. This is even a little more in this game as when playing solo you need your deck to handle a vast amount of game states that you share with another player in co-op. So it is even more important to get those things firing early. Remember you draw 17 cards from a deck of 50 at the start of the game, so getting a copy of a card you want is extremely high if it has 3 copies of it.

TragicTheBlathering Ive watched many of you'r LOTR LCG vids and have the game myself with the first 2 AP and started to try using my own built decks other than the op one you use :). Anyways I assume you play MtG, what I want to know is like the terminology I don't understand all this stuff about Commander standard highlander legacy draft and that stuff I know how to play but don't want to buy the game until I understand all these things.

commander. highlander, legacy and standard are all MTG "formats". There are even more than that as well. These are simply put variants of MTG. They all have slightly different rules for how the deck is allowed to be constructed and from what "pool" (cards). LoTR has a number of formats. There is Solo (1 deck), and Co-Op (2+ Decks) then there is Normal (default), Easy (Cards removed from the encounter deck) and Nightmare (cards in the encounter deck replaced with more hardcore cards). There is also Saga / Campaign mode that has its own rules and requires the deluxe saga expansions to be played. These are the only formats in LoTR at the moment I think, and all of them ap[art from the Saga stuff uses the exact same rule set.

Just curios are you using only a single core set to build that Spirit deck or are those cards from expansions as well? I only reently got into the game and don't like how I can't make a tourny legal deck unless I go wth multiple hero types.

Descendant can target 2 enemies. Discard for +1-Will. Stand and Fight at action speed to defend. As I owned the quest you didn't see this happen.. but it is a common situation. Mob gets shadow card, stand and fight for 2 dmg. Block saving heroes, die.. 2 dmg... heroes attack x dmg. This can be repeated with Tomb. Point is really about splitting dmg. Gnadalf is a valid choice as well. Maybe put one of him in and take one descendant out. + Just wanted to do something diffrent

You got it. Unlike MTG and many other games, being "tapped" has no relation to the action triggers. Unless the "cost" of the trigger is to exhaust and this will be said in the action text...

That quest is particularly hard to play solo.. there is ways you can do it by fudging the random hero removal, but I would like to do it legit.. I haven't looked tat the game in a while.. but I will eventually do a solo video on it, when I have worked out a deck that can do it legit. I think with the growth of the mono-sphere decks I should probably look into it again.

Understood. I was just curious. I am curious, do you think that it was a mistake for them to include that quest in the core set? Seems like the put one of the hardest quests in the entire game in the base set and that could turn off a lot of people.

@TragicTheBlathering: at 19:30 you discard Descendant of Thorondor for a +1 Willpower. I may be misunderstanding the rule, but how come you can use Eowyn's Action, when she has already been tapped for questing? I thought that you either tap for questing or for Action, but not both?

If Unexpected Courage is a Spirit attachement, why were you able to attach it to Beravor, who is a Lore Hero?

you only need to match faction to pay costs for that attachment. It says "attach to hero" not "attach to spirit hero"

a cast is when you pay for a card and then place it on the table. As for the mistakes if you can point them out maybe I can improve.. but I am pretty sure there are zero game altering problems in this one. Besides some small resource errors, but as I had so many resources it doesn't effect the outcome.

Can someone confirm if you do indeed start on turn zero? It doesn't make sense to me xP...I'd think that you'd start on turn 1 (as apposed to starting on turn zero, playing that turn then moving into turn 1).

The game ends instantly when you finish the Quest card. Quest card resolution is a instant effect that interrupts ALL game events. So, when you complete the last quest card the game ends immediately. Turns are incremented at the end of the turn during the refresh phase. Yes the refresh phase is at the END not start of the turn. So increasing your threat, turn counter refreshing the cards.. all happens at the end of the turn. So if you complete the quest you never get to the turn increment step of the refresh phase.. . The easiest way to handle this is to start at turn 0. Then the turn counter is correct for the end of the game.

Yes. You get one mulligan.. with no penalty. Then you are stuck with whatever you get the 2nd time

I really dont understand why you got 3x Descendant of Thorondor on your deck, by the way, you called it Landroval :), 3x Gandalf would'nt be better? That could help you in reducing your threat level by 5 or get 4 damage on enemies on the staging area...choises...choises...this game is so fun!

How are you playing Steward and Mark etc, you dont have a Hero with that sphere?

+TheFewzz It has been a long time and with out time codes it is hard to tell... but a quick look at the deck shows that I have "Song of Kings" ... which adds a Leadership icon to the hero it is attached to... meaning you can pay for leadership cards in addition to cards of the printed sphere. 29:20

Thanks... after the 1st one it is tweaked a bit. I will now put in key cards from the quest getting played each time. As well as tweak the timing. If you like my intros, always watch the last ep in the series.. it is usually the best version!

8:09 card from top is always on top. Is that cheating or what xD You always put the half in the middle, the top card never changes and when you do, "the worst shuffling ever for cards" (and not really good way to mix them thou, but showoff shuffle) you changed right top which ended 2 cards below, to top anyway, and it loooks so cheating xD not sure if it was in purpose or not, but man, those cards werent shuffled!

My and my brother decided to not search for the troll at the beggining at the game when we ere playing the other day, the quest says when revealed search for the troll. I guess people who play all the quest in succession have to complete that when revealed effect but cmon fighting that troll the first turn with your first hand is stupid AF. We still ended up fighting him two times though lol and we barely won.

It's so funny when you try to explain game-mechanic, but do so many mistakes. Dont speaking about ur pronunciation of certain cards which is crucial (Anduin?). And what the hell is cast? Or a horse-braker? lol
