This seems like a very practical single volume edition "for reading." Gonna add this to my collection.

You can easily add a bookmark ribbon like many bibles have to hardcover books. I’ve done it myself, it’s very easy but you can only do it in books like this, paperback ones it’s not possible.

My favorite chapter of the entire trilogy as a singular volume is in The Two Towers, Chapter VII: Helm's Deep. Got the 4 book box set for Christmas 2022 and I put off The Two Towers after Chapter 2. Wasn't intrigued until after I finished reading New Moon in the Twilight Saga. Got from the thrift store on 3 separate trips the first three books (first book 2 since they didn't have the 1st. My mom said to just get book 2 and I'd find the first somewhere else and that if I didn't get book 2 I'd be upset later on. Never saw a copy of New Moon since so I'm glad I own it. I love The Lord of the Rings and Stranger Things that show on Netflix so much I decided to do a solo campaign of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. Got the box set, the 2014 one. Not the essential kit or the 2022 one. They seem to be bad. Want a full length adventure? Go for the og 2014 one. The Lord of the Rings inspired D&D. It's a fantasy role playing RPG that you can play up to I believe 10 people. Since I played it solo I ran the "Lost Mines of Phandelver" adventure in 2 weeks and as a reminder buy a exp tracker and remember any NPC you befriend you can use him/her to keep your leveling up down. Forgot I had a NPC and actually killed one. My rule is your dead your dead. (As long as you are a NPC that it. You can revive players if needed.) Need new sheets and the 3 main books: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master Guide, Monster Manual. I want to get the Icewind Dale Rime of the Frost maiden adventure as I'm a horror geek and it estimates over 9 months of play solo wise. My schedule when I played D&D was 2 hours or less (maybe more if I was really having fun) each day. If you think D&D is hard to learn, then try the starter set. It makes it easier to learn. You could just buy all three starter sets tbh but you'd have to be exploring towns a lot more since all three sets connect together and the towns are literally the same. You could probably make up a eagle that can accommodate up to five people that allows all the players to travel to and from islands but since I got the og set idk. On talk of The Lord of the Rings, get it if you don't have at least one copy of the trilogy. I unfortunately got a used set so I might finish reading them and buy myself this copy of the LOTR and be happy. I'm also gonna say that to get through this trilogy read it slowly. I stutter in my head while reading. Tolkien is wierd. I sometimes read at length a chapter or two aloud to fully immerse myself in the scenes because most of them are confusing. Part II chapter 7 makes me confuse Gimli and this guy I believe its Eomer or something. One minute Tolkien says something like ' "I shall have my axe swing and chop a orc's neck in half!" said Gimli. The dwarf looks at him with mild surprise. "Something wrong with wood?" he asks. "I have had killed naught since a single tree. I have enjoyed slewing orcs. I have slewed thirty-three!" Gimli says.' See? Not the actual conversation but I made it sound like Éomer was a dwarf, otherwise Gimli. I thought that Éomer was talking omly. But it seemed he looks like a dwarf and I forgot his description or maybe I'm insane? Good review. Wish I had this already.

Good thorough review. It looks like the date of original publication of this edition was 1994. It's at the top of the page. Thanks!

@@nrreno Tolkien originally desired for LOTR to be six volumes but his editor informed him that wouldn't be possible so he split them into three, each published separately but still a part of the same work.
