In your opinion, if you ever played the games, do you feel that the Shadow or War/Mordor games were too out of step in their depictions and take of the Lord of the Rings lore or are creative enough to justify their existence? Me personally, I feel that despite their liberties, they give the source material a more than fair shake.
@CivilizationEx3 жыл бұрын
I liked the games, they took a fair few liberties with the Lore but that's to be expected. Overall I think they were quite good.

Because there are better channels that do a better job of this already out there. I Came and was interested to see what he can actually share, because this topic is so heavily covered already. I'm not a fan of the droning on with limited, well known information, and anything that isn't is just covering the bare minimum and basics. He doesn't actually talk about the other rings of power other then The One Ring much either. Which is very disappointing. I came in here hoping he was actually going to talk about what the rings all actually do or who they went to after their forging. Because not a lot of people understand much about them, nor make videos of about it. That's what this video should've been, that's for sure. Not mentioning to whom and to where the other rings went and sticking to the One Ring kinda made this video a fail in my eyes and probably many others. The video should be titled A Brief History... or Basic History of... so that it is more accurate and draws in people who don't know about the deeper lore. Anyone who has seen the LOTR or read any Tolkien which is anybody who cares about this stuff, already knows basically everything that this entire video explains. and if they don't care about this stuff the likelyhood of actually stumbling across this video like myself(Who is a massive Tolkien fan) is very slim. And most who do, will just probably click away in the first couple of mins. It wasn't horrible, it just missed a lot of potential.
@newseager40213 жыл бұрын
@Devin Rogerson it's a 12 minute summary, not a 4 hours in depth look on every power ring and who last used them as cock rings. You clearly know so what could you expect? Besides wanting 5 paragraphs to say "I'm disappointed and an idiot."

Would you say the Silmarillion jewels were of greater power than the rings of power? I also like the explanation of Arda itself being like Melkor’s ring, in that he infused his dark powers within
@CivilizationEx3 жыл бұрын
Depends how you look at it. The Silmarils contained the light of the two trees, and the Valar wanted to use them to remake the trees, so in theory they had the power to light an entire continent. They were also more valued as treasures. But the rings had more individual powers which could be used for every day purposes. So depends on what matters most to the person who wants it.

the silmarils possessed no powers, other than being filled with the light of the trees.

I think 8 of the 9 rings worn by the ringwraiths were destroyed, along with the wraiths, when the One Ring was destroyed. The other was destroyed when the Witch King was killed by Eowyn. I suppose it would make sense that the 7 dwarf rings were also destroyed when the One Ring went into the fires of Mount Doom.
@CivilizationEx3 жыл бұрын
That's possible, but it's also possible the nine Nazgul did not have the rings at all, and Sauron had all nine with him in Barad-dur. This is because if the Nazgul had been wearing the rings they would have been completely invisible, their clothes included. But they were not, as many characters could see them. So I think it's more likely Sauron took back the rings after the enslaving the Nazgul, and had them with him in the tower.

I had no idea that the ring lay on the riverbed for nearly 2500 years. And that it took another 500 years to get it from there to Mt. Doom.
@盧璘壽로인수2 жыл бұрын
you probably missed out on Galadriel's narration in FoTR: [...] It betrayed Isildur, to his death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. *And for two and a half thousand years, the Ring passed out of all knowledge.* Until, when chance came, the Ring ensnared a new bearer. [Gollum: My precious~...] The Ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels under the Misty Mountains, and there it consumed him. [Gollum: It came to me. My own, my love, my own. My...precious~...] The Ring gave to Gollum unnatural long life. *For five hundred years it poisoned his mind* ; and in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited.

If Sauron bound most of his power to The One Ring, could he have been all-powerful forever if he never lost it? I know the Valar and Maiar had a limited amount of power, but if Sauron (who was a Maiar) bound much of his power to the One Ring, would he have been powerful forever? (Especially since the One Ring was nearly impossible to destroy).
