The song in the end credits was "Stupify" by *_Disturbed._* They put it in there to pay tribute to how in the original dubs of the those _DBZ_ short movies, they put licensed music in. Most likely to "Americanise" it and make the action seem more badass. And while I owe it to those movies for getting me into *_Disturbed,_* the licensed music really doesn't add anything to the story nor does it tie into the story.

But as I said, pretty much all the licensed music that was in the dubs of those _DBZ_ short films doesn't tie into the story; they're just there to be a soundtrack (which is the worst kind of justification). And I wouldn't say I hate the Bruce Faulconer score from _DBZ,_ but I feel the tonality and instrumentation doesn't really fit the genre of the story. That, and the fact that the Faulconer music NEVER SHUT THE FUCK UP (they HAD to play some music in EVER SINGLE SCENE, even when NOTHING was going on).

Literally Lord Slug is a retelling of the original DragonBall series' King Piccolo arc. I believe the current Piccolo isn't just the son of King Piccolo but also the essence of him, thats why Kami disappears when he dies, and he still had ingrained hatred for Goku when he was younger.

The whole King Piccolo backstory in a nutshell: he gathered the dragonballs, Roshi failed to seal Piccolo away with the Mafuba technique and died, then Piccolo summoned the Dragon, Chaozu tried to sneak a wish for the Dragon to defeat Piccolo but was killed before he could. Piccolo got his wish to restore his youth and then killed Shenron before he could disappear.

8:00 the reason this is brought up is because in the original Dragon Ball (The OG series, before Dragonball Z even, Goku was a child) King Piccolo, essentially the Father of the Piccolo we know, made this exact wish, he was as old and decrepit as Kami was back then since they were once the same person. There are a lot of parallels with this movie and the King Piccolo arc from the OG Dragonball, thus the Jokes towards Lord Slug calling him King Piccolo at the start.

King Picolo is the being that existed before being reborn as the Piccolo you're familiar with. He's the one that was split off from Kami when the latter was trying to purge himself of all evil so he'd be worthy to be Earth's guardian. He's the second to last arc of the original Dragon Ball series and arguably it was the first arc to somewhat resemble Dragon Ball Z's storytelling structure. The joke here is that a lot of the stuff Lord Slug does is ripped off from the stuff King Piccolo did during his arc. For example, both used the Dragon Balls to restore their youth so that they could regain their peak power.

Yeah, you got most of the details. Lord Slug was pretty much ripping off King Piccolo, so they kept making jokes about that. Originally King Piccolo was a Namekian who came to Earth as a child and was corrupted by what he saw here. He wanted a job that required you to be pure of heart, so he split himself in two. One was pure good, becoming Kami, which literally translates to god. The other was pure evil, becoming King Piccolo. He built an evil army and terrorized the world... until he got sealed in a rice cooker for decades. Eventually a little blue idiot released him. He was rather old by that point so he had his minions go out and collect the dragon balls to restore him to his prime. He then took over the world and to celebrate he decided to blow up a country once a year, kind of like Freeza Day on a smaller scale. Of course before he could do that he got into a fight with a child and came down with a sudden case of massive gaping hole in the chest.

Fun fact about Goku's "Super Saiyaman" form aka False SSJ: In the original dub, King Kai calls this Super Saiyan, but this movie was made around the same time the Manga was in the Namek arc. Toei wanted to implement the Super Saiyan form, but didn't have a complete description on the form since Toriyama was still in the process of making it, so they pieced together what they had and made this infamous form the community now and forever dubbed the False Super Saiyan. 11 days after the movie came out, the manga revealed the true Super Saiyan form in all it's glory (another fun fact: the original manga design went with golden hair because it saved time and ink for Toriyama to color in the artwork, since manga's are in black and white, and blonde doesn't require any black ink)

Funny story, when King Piccolo used the wish he then killed Shenron. Kami later revived the dragon.

Seeing winter time for Christmas is something that took me a lot of getting used to. See, I grew up in Brazil and since it's on the opposite side of the equator the seasons are reversed. So December is in the middle of summer there, Christmas is all about warm weather and swimming and going to the beach.

Nappa sang Stupify by Disturbed The reason is because in the original dubbing of Lord Slug when he goes Giant they start playing Stupify by Disturbed. A lot of the original dubbings of the Dragon Ball Z movies had different rock songs, one of the ones I personally remember is Change by Deftones in Cooler's Revenge.
