Thank you for capturing this! We’ve been sleeping on this version of Ribs. The song is about growing older and the fear/excitement that accompanies those transitions. Then she literally changes from wearing black (Pure Heroine and the enshrinement of her teenage years + notice that HP on her crop top) to an almost metallic pink, which represents the vibrant colors of her early twenties. OMG AND THE MELODY BREAKDOWN FUCKING RIVALS HARD FEELINGS.

That happens a lot with live versions I find. After going to Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour, (as was the case with the previous 1989 World Tour, The Red Tour and Speak Now,) there are a number of songs of hers I have a hard time listening to the studio version now because the live version was totally different and so much better, (in my opinion.) Like the rock version of 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' on The Red Tour, this year it is 'I Did Something Bad', which was incredible live and needs a studio version done that way badly. (I pray she does a video special of the concert Netflix-style just for the different styles, medleys and mashups.) She also had a number of medleys and mashups that worked perfectly together the way she did them and you couldn't even tell they were different songs. Artists generally fall into 3 groups I find: 1: They stick to the original songs and sound great (or better than the studio version) 2: They aren't as good live regardless if they stick to the original song or try something different 3: They take some songs and redo them, creating something special and interesting I like both 1 and 3, depending on the artist.
@frankoceanstanaccount71266 жыл бұрын
I'm so obsessed with this performance of her. It's mindblowing. I cannot even understand how I've seen this so many times. Since no one ever comes to Mexico, or any place near to me (I'm talking about artists I support) I haven't go to any concert so I'm only able to see their performances on YT or IG and none of them (except maybe Bastille or Aurora) makes me feel how I feel while watching this video. The amount of emotion and joy Ella shares with the crowd and the dancers it's on another level. I'm really glad I found her, and her music. About the 3 kind of artist you listed I'll put in here some of my favorites: 1. Bastille/ Aurora/ The Killers 2. Børns (I love his music, but his live performances are really lame) 3. Lorde/ Bastille
@DieHard06 жыл бұрын
I'm really glad I was able to share the performance and you were able to find it and enjoy it. That is my whole purpose behind sharing the content I do, that hopefully people will be able to witness something special and get at least a small sense of what I experienced. It makes me happy to know that it makes others happy. :-)

I just turned 25. Pls enjoy your teenage years! I found Lorde after she put out her EP with royals in 2012 when I was 17. In this quarantine I've been really reminiscing my teenage/high school times. It goes by so quickly and you never get it back. Be safe, have fun, go to parties, go to school pep rallies, join all the clubs you can, take hard classes, take an easy class, hold hands w your friends in the hallway, hold hands with your crush. Those giddy butterflies of being a teen go away pls enjoy every moment of them ❤️

It's sometimes nice to hear artists do slightly different renditions or arrangements of popular songs live. It quite often breathes new life into them, or makes them impact slightly different. I've been lucky to hear a few artists do this, where personally I actually like the live version even better than the original. It would be nice for some of them to be officially studio remastered or live masters be released.
