I agree that Lorde is very influential. But she is definitely inspired by Lana. Not comparing them in any way because they're both awesome in their own rights. Lana was the first "sad girl" that I could remember. you're also missing out on Melodrama, one of the best albums honestly.

I love Lorde but Lana is the inspiration behind Billie and Lorde. She debuted before the two and was the first to introduce that type of style.
