i love how they translated “and now the cherry black lipstick’s gathering dust in the drawer” into “may the sun shine upon you and cast your shadows behind you” not a literal translation, but something that offers deeper insight to what was hidden in the original lyric. beautiful!

This makes me homesick in a way. My mom is a Kiwi so I have citizenship but I can't get into the country. I hope my grandma lives long enough to see her. My grandpa proudly spoke Teo reo and taught young Maori. I'd probably be too scared to say much. Haven't seen her since I was 8.

Oof same, I'm from Argentina and I have been doing a lot of research on the Mapuche (Mapudungun) language and it's maddening how little information there is, most of it it's Chile's tries to recover some of it, but here? There's almost no communities left, most got completely integrated into our (already quite mixed) culture and left behind such important parts of our own communal history :c And I guess the same happens to you all, did you know that the classic "pão de queijo" it's actually called "Chipa" and from the Guaraní people? It's one of the reasons Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil share the food
