Before Lordi won, it was a bunch of people singing and standing still. They brought the whole show with pyros, makeup, rock - and swoop the whole floor with the rest. They got an enormous point total, by far the largest in Eurovision history.

​@@llokeyy7 It is :) I personally don't know any of the members, but when I was younger, some of my heavy metal musician friends knew some of them personally, so it was sometimes fun to hear some anecdotes about them around that time. They were also quite heavily embraced by local businesses and the city. Even our central shopping square was renamed after them, we had a Lordi-themed metal pub for a time, and even now, the biggest kebab-meal in town is called The Lordi special kebab, since it was Mr. Lordi's favourite. Also their pictures are still all over the city proper

@@Songfugel Thats extremely cool, i am quite jealous lol. Here in Greece in 2006 literally everything was about Lordi, or "the monsters" as everyone would call them. They scheduled a concert here last year for the first time since Eurovision, but it was unfortunately cancelled :( I can only hope that I get to see them one day live.

You have to remember that they were in full costume for around 3 days, during the entire song contest. So they would be a bit whiffy at the end of it.

@@richieb7692 Not just hat, but those things aint easy to clean either so either they throw them out after couple of uses and make new ones, or they deal with them being bit smelly and use them more and considering the amount of detail for that time, those things were definetly used bunch of times

At first a big shock that this song won it was so different from what we were used from winning songs, now after so many years i like it a lot. It was the only time Finland won. In Finland people love this kind of music, for instance Floor with Nightwish. In the Netherlands this kind of music is less appreciated i think.

During the 2021 semi-finale the public, mostly Dutch people, were literally screaming for Finland to go through to the finals. Floor Janssen used to play with After Forever, before Nightwish. Ayreon is unique. The Gathering was probably one of the first bands that made metal with a female singer. And of course Within Temptation. Yeah, NL is known for EDM etc. but i do think there are some pretty decent (symphonic/gothic) metal bands. Another fun thing; people from Finland & the Netherlands are probably the only ones to really be crazy for dropjes. ;-)

I like this song a lot! And untill this year they havent done performing for years, untill Rotterdam Eurovision. Because they said that "Holland"(The Netherlands) is the number 1 to perform with the audience. Really thankfull that they have said and done that🙏

Really that’s dope. I remember when I was a kid and watched this with my parents, I always was the odd one who liked rock and metal while everyone else liked rap and pop. I credit Lordi for guiding me down the right track.

You need to check out more Lordi, they have so many great songs. Blood Red Sandman, Would You Love A Monsterman?, Devil Is A Loser just to mention a few. Btw. Lordi is going to release 7 new studioalbums on the same day later this year. Never been done before, it's going to be epic.

Kita ( Sampsa Astala ) in the drums , Mr . A little context to this one: before this, Finland did not have a great history with the contest. They'd placed last a lot and ended up with zero points several times, which is pretty bad. The voting countries allocate 1-7 points and then 8, 10 and 12 points to their top three and there's a thing called "bloc voting" where neighbouring countries tend to vote for each other, so a country can usually at least pick up a few pity points from that. So ending up with zero really means you sucked. And Finland did it a few times. Then, out of nowhere, they enter this insane hard rock act that was nothing like the usual stuff and ended up with a record-breaking win. It was glorious.
