Really love mine for roast potatoes and frozen chips. Frozen chips at 12 minutes and no oil. Roast potatoes about 30 to 32 minutes. As a vegetarian I use Crisp & Dry oil, and for veg I use a steamer. I can not remember the last time I have used a grill or oven. These air fryers are a lot healthier for food and do not produce steamy oil unlike ordinary deep fat fryers. I found potato chips around 25 minutes. One thing when doing roast potatoes is, to check the paddle can turn easily, and remember past the handle on the inside, as I have burnt one out sadly in the past where the potatoes got caught on the inside. Being hard of hearing, sadly I did not hear the warning signs. I just now keep potatoes slightly smaller to get past the handle area. Finally, being greedy, I have a holiday apartment in Majorca, and I bought one for my apartment , where I am so impressed with the Tefal air fryers.

We are looking at Airfryers at the moment. The Actifry started as a healthy alternative to a deep-fat fryer, very much about cooking “proper” chips with as little fat as possible. It definitely looks optimised for chips….the paddle turning them over will make them lovely and crispy. I think for us, planning on cooking things like chicken and fish I’d prefer something like the Corsori where all of the basket is usable.

So it's OK to use without the paddle? I am thinking things like chicken kievs, etc

OMG this is the exact model I was thinking about buying! I posted a comment on one of your previous videos asking if the automatic stirring feature was worth the extra money (twice the price) over the ordinary Tefal Airfryer. I still haven't made a decision 🤣🤣🤣 I don't want to regret not getting the auto stirring option but it's too much extra money...

We've have an actifry genius + which we've had for a couple of years. We have always had a problem with the lid not securing properly. Although the cooking process is good the lid let's it down. So when renewal of the appliance is beckoning I don't think it'll be a tefal.

I don't think the paddle will make much if any difference as long as it doesn't flip the food or simultaneously heat from above and below

I have this model coming on Friday. Does it have a temperature dial for heat settings, as well as timer ?

Philips invented the air fryer. I would say Philips and Tefal are the best two on the market.

Tefal is a household brand in Singapore. But I’m always very confused by Tefals’s products as Tefal has 100+ models of rice cookers, 100+ models of airfryers and 100+ models of kettles, it becomes very difficult to select an appliance.

I was thinking of buying a combo air fryer/mini oven so I could also cook pizzas. However my main fan oven is rated at 1.1kw hours, while the airfryer at 2.4Kw/h. The airfyrer cooks more quickly, but consumes more energy. In my case there is no electricity saving to be had by switching to this particular airfryer!
@MisterMooo

`Power and energy are not the same. The air fryer heats up a much smaller volume to the same temperature, using less energy. Power is only the maximum rating, it does not use 2.4kW all the time running.

@@MisterMooo Very true but the element on my oven is not on all the time either. To be fair, it is not easy to compare electricity consumption, manufactures should give some better guidance on how to estimate this.

Just how long dose a fan oven take to get to operating temperature. Whilst one is waiting for the fan oven to reach temperature, the air fryer is already working at operating temperature. Also the air fryer could be easier to clean.
@rossdev
@rossdev Жыл бұрын
@@leschase1824 Reaching operating temp obviously varies by oven, mine is a Hotpoint slimline cooker with a fan oven and I use it on average 30 minutes at a time (200c) to cook things like frozen fish. Assuming worst case scenario of 1.1Kw/h, then this consumes 0.55Kw/h of electricity. The airfryer I was looking at (Ninja Foodie) recommends 20 minutes cooking time at 190c. This is rated at 2.4Kw/h, so would it really use significantly less than 0.55Kw/h in this instance? My own thoughts are that airfryers are principally a convenience device to make your dinner quickly, along with the fact that they crispen up the food nicely. For my particular oven vs the Ninja model, I'm not convinced by the electricity savings. Maybe Andy from Lords Electrical could make a video on this very topic and perhaps use an electricity monitoring socket to give us some scientific results!
