Imran's speech shows how immensely he respected both the West Indies team of the 1980s, especially their fast bowlers, and yes: Sunil Gavaskar. Imran Khan praises Gavaskar on all platforms, right so. He correctly said that Gavaskar never practised against genuine fast bowlers on the home turf, because India that time did not have genuine fast bowlers, except the great Kapil Dev (who came as late as 1978, while Gavaskar was in squad since '71), and also Indian pitches were very slow. Imagine Gavaskar opening all the time on the greenest wickets on England/ West Indies/ Australia against the fast bowlers of that era, playing with just a cap on his head, with 5'6" of body frame and with all fast bowlers 6' +, bowling bouncers all over on a fast pitch. Batting in earlier time was also made difficult due to paucity of good protective gears. All this combination makes Gavaskar stand out and look like a super human. He also was the most stylish batsman of his time.

That's absolutely correct. I'd broadly say it as Cricket without Wicket taking Bowlers will be nothing. This obsession with runs, 6s & big hits will cost Cricket heavily in the long run. A pitch even in limited overs should never be a Batting pitch but a Bowling pitch either Spin or Seam depending on the venue.

@@salmanshah3846 I partly agree, green & fast pitches to help Pacers are extremely important for the game. But I want both Fast Bowlers/Seamers & Spinners to have their own turfs to challenge the Batsmen. So I prefer to see some pitches as home of Spin where Spin is a challenge & some pitches as home of Speed where Pace & Bounce is a challenge for Batsmen to face.
