One thing I noticed right off the get go, is how clean this city is. That really impresses me, even the back alleys are clean. I live in Detroit, Michigan and there's trash everywhere. Well done Cheyenne, that's something to be proud of.

Absolutely. I've visited many towns and cities in the south and north east, and many of them have trash everywhere. It should be embarrassing to them. It's so nice visiting these beautiful, clean small cities in the midwest.

Cheyenne is a very small city . I think that's the main reason. People put alot into political control but it's much harder to provide public services like clean up in large cities and we all know the money goes to the rich side of town no matter who controls the politics

As a viewer from the UK, this is exactly what I would expect from a small US town/ city. Absolutely incredible looking traditional US town/ city. Definitely one to visit if and when I can get the chance. Loved the video, Cheyenne looks fantastic, everything a tourist would want from an American road trip. Also you can tell the locals take pride in their neighbourhood, and the artists are certainly gifted, very talented people. Glad wifey got another stamp. I am a Wyoming native. I lived in Cheyenne 78-79 to attend LCCC. It was a wonderful time. I loved living in Cheyenne. I was a single mom and it felt difficult at the time but looking back it was a great time. Beautiful city and great people. I am back in my hometown now. I love where I live. I am happy to have been born here and love my family and friends. There's no place like your home state.

Great video, I've lived in Cheyenne for 8 years now. Originally from Virginia, moved to Colorado in 2000. 14 years later I was working a job just 10 miles from the CO/WY state line, brutal weather. I was driving from Longmont, CO, roughly 1 1/2 hours drive each way. I got tired of the commute and moved north to Cheyenne, 25 minute drive by comparison. I ended up getting a VA loan and bought a small house dating back to 1923 in the old historic district on the south side of that railroad bridge you crossed at the start of the video. I got a job in town and only drive 4 miles to work. Oh, and NO STATE INCOME TAX!

Hey thanks for stopping by our cute little town glad you had a great time. Just wanted mention that the art on the buildings is something the chamber of commerce let's local artists do so they can share their ideas. The space across from atlas Theater used to be a bakery but it burned down the owner was wanting to rebuild it but I don't think he could get the money to its been almost 20 years now. And dirt roads usually is the county and paved would be the city its really wierd but it's like a checkered board. Wyoming is where most of the cowboy stories come from and outlaws. If you ever come across a buffalo keep your distance please do not try to pet them they are aggressive.

I disagree Cheyenne is not better than most Western Towns, I lived in Wyoming over 25 years, and there are many places much better than Cheyenne, Cheyenne is a Tourist , Rodeo Town, every summer full of Drunks, DUI Crashes, non Stop Parting and Problems, Its one of the Worst places in Wyoming to live and try to work, as the City has Sky High Unemployment, Homeless are now moving in and People are moving out of the Area in large numbers, not so great a place.

First thing I noticed is how much the city favors San Angelo, Texas my hometown. It is clean, no tent cities no trash on the street unless they cleaned up before you go there. Thankyou so much , enjoyed the video. I stayed several days in Cody with the wife years ago and enjoyed that little town so much. The Buffalo Bill dam was a marvel to visit. The capital was astounding. , we cannot even get into the Franklin county courthouse in Pasco, Washington without going through metal detectors etc.

Born and raised in Cheyenne. :) I love my little city. Its very interesting to see a visitor’s perspective. You taught me some things about our history. Wyoming was the first state to give women the right to vote in 1920. We had our 100 year anniversary celebration a couple years ago. The governor is a regular customer at one of the restaurants I used to work at, so I have met him many times. My coworker was from LA and the first time I told her he was the governor she was shocked that in Wyoming we can just eat lunch with the governor on any given day. My daughter is a great great granddaughter of Chief Washakie. We have a few statues and paintings of him in Wyoming. We have a lot of different kind of people here. Some of my long time friends did that artwork downtown. When I was in Jr. High our art class painted the license plate cowboy boot in front of the Museum. I believe it was a fundraiser for the school. Businesses bought the boots from the students for a high price. That’s also interesting your grew up in Tulsa, OK because my best friend in the whole world lives there now. Small world.

I loved your reaction of Sanford’s. I remember as a child having a similar reaction, like wow this is a lot of cool stuff. And I noticed after I watched this video that you had also visited Sturgis and Rapid City recently. My mom lives in Rapid City and my sister graduated high school in Sturgis. So I am very familiar with those towns as well. The Black Hills are beautiful.

Winters are fine, its the wind that kills you. Last year we had a snowstorm of close to 4 feet over night, but other than that the snow is tolerable

Hi. Nice video. I grew up and currently live in Cheyenne. In fact, I was surprised when you drove by my childhood home (NE Cheyenne off College Dr). The streets that are dirt road in that area are county pockets that have not been annexed into the proper city limits. College Drive actually used to be the edge of town back in the 70s the city grew around these county pockets.

Mi'Lord, you succeeded beautifully in giving me the sense that I myself had visited Cheyenne. They have done a great job preserving their older mixed use commercial and residential brick buildings. The gargantuan murals are great. Overall, a visually appealing, walkable city which abruptly ends at the prairie's edge! Your video has created a hankering within me to go myself and enjoy victuals and beverages at the marvelous Sanfords Grub and Pub. Expect to join you through Wyoming.

Wow! The artists of this little city are astounding! I live in Chicago a huge wild place but little Cheyenne easily outdo us in art. While we have a lot of public artworks Cheyenne's artists add a lot more basic humanity to their stuff! Keep it up, people!

I was there twice. Last time was in October of 2019, a bright, sunny October day where I walked through the Capitol, sampled a few beers downtown, including one from Accomplice, a wheat beer called Sol Dance. I walked off the buzz by walking halfway across the bridge in your opening segment and back. I had flown into Denver the night before, rented a car one-way with Cheyenne being the northernmost point in my trip, continuing south-southeast, leaving the car in Houston before flying back home. My mom had died three week eariler in Ohio and this was a "go for a long drive before you make any life-changing decisions" kind of trip.

OMG you have such a way of bringing these cities to life that I was having happy bouts of nostalgia while watching. I lived in Cheyenne from 2001-03 but first visited in 1976 on a 4-H Exchange Trip. Our host family performed with the Old Fashioned Melodrama at the Atlas Theater and we went every night. It was so much fun! Everybody gathered out back after the show for an impromptu party as the trains were passing by. In those days we Rhode Islanders thought we were out in the middle of nowhere, not even a part of the US but still out in the territories. There was nothing around for miles. When I lived there there was not all that artwork and definitely no Cowboy Boots in front of the train station. That was so cool showing Cattlebarron's Way and Keefe Row. I don't even remember that! I lived on 31st St, near the State Capitol. Thanks for the tour. The only time I ever went there was to get my notary paperwork signed, as I worked for the city. I wish I had taken the time to walk through it and see that, so thanks for taking me along! I just fell in love with that city 46 years ago and still love it to this day. I do remember you said you grew up in a trailer park when you were driving around Bismark, ND I think it was. Our host family lived on top of a ridge when I first went there in '76. You could see for miles. When I moved there in 2001 there had been a subdivision built in back of their land but like you said, other than that it was the same. When the houses ended, the prairie began. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOUR VIDEO MADE MY DAY!

I'm a little disappointed we didn't get any Rock concerts this year, last year we had Five Finger Deathpunch with Papa Roach as their opener. It was glorious!

I appreciate your video of my adopted home. It highlights many of the beautiful artworks around the city that are actually paid for by donations. The one thing you seemed amazed with was the dirt roads within the city. Those areas probably do not belong to the city, but rather the county. We have several "islands" belonging to the county which is something most cities of any size do not. Although technically not part of the city, we still claim them.

I will say you did have a pretty nice video. One place on lincoln that you touched on about being under development. Truth be told, it was a hotel at one time that burnt down in 04. The hotel is actually if I remember right where Tom Horn signed his confession. I had always heard that they were going to rebuild it, but as you can see, at the time of doing video. I always wanted to move to Cheyenne, and in 2000, I had the opportunity, and I don't regret it I was born and raised in California and every year passing through to Beatrice Nebraska to see my parents' family. I would always enjoy seeing Cheyenne..

Cheyenne has some great parks. Hope you didn't miss them. Frontier Days is the time to be there in Cheyenne if you don't mind the crowds. I grew up at the University of Wyoming Archer Field Station just a few miles east of town. I understand it is now the county fairgrounds. Actually the old town looks better now. Thanks for the tour.

Wow! I was born in Dodge City, was moved to String Town, Oklahoma, from there to McAlister, Ok, where we lived for 7 years and then to good ole Cheyenne, Wy. Lived there for 10 years before moving to San Francisco, Ca. I had my best times in Cheyenne, with the Frontier Days and all the activities, the parades, carnival, rodeos and the parties. With F. E. Warren AFB, right outside of town, offered alot of activities, as well, roller rink, swimming pool, bowling ally, movie theater and the best food in town, at the cafeteria. Like I said, the best times for us teenagers, at the time.

Did you like Wyoming better than OK? I wasn't a big fan of OK. I guess in big part to the extra hot summers then you still had cold winters, drab sorta flat desolate landscape & weird vibe. I wasn't a big fan of Kansas either. The Kansas vibe felt totally different than OK but was also sorta negative one. I never been to Cheyenne or Wyoming but to me, it seems to have better vibe. Especially if you like summer & winter outdoor activities.

They call Chicago the Windy City, but Cheyenne’s got it beat, it’s flat, nothing to block the wind off of the Rocky Mountains. I’d have to say, 50/50. P.S: Next time you come through, take a detour to the corner of 21st and Alexander. There's a house there called The Slack House, so named because its original owner Robert Slack was one of the main proponents in starting Frontier Days! Very cool architecture, if not as well maintained as some other historic buildings.

This was definitely a surprise. Beautiful old buildings and plenty of artwork all over the city including unusual statues and cowboy boots. It has a unique personality. So clean. No homeless living on the streets.

As a person who lives in Cheyenne Wyoming, I say that a lot of people put hate and disrespect on Wyoming because of the weather and the people, but Wyoming is one of the most beutiful places on the earth.

@@wesjb363 I pretty much hate Illinois. There are worse places but it's a high tax state. With every city that is 100k or over has a gang thug infested area that you can't walk in. Look up Rockford or Peoria IL hood videos for example. I can see Wyoming hated for being a boring desolate empty place.

I lived in Western WYO for a year - Big Piney/Marbleton - so beautiful! But at an elevation of over 7500 ft, the winters were brutal. Moved to Western CO 20 years ago, awesome and warmer, now getting overrun by Calis and every State in the Union, I miss WYO! 😣😣😣

Having lived here for 25+ years I will add just a few tidbits. When you go from paved to dirt in the city, you have usually crossed into county maintenance. The Capitol building and the train depot are facing each other so they could keep an eye on each other. You were lucky enough to visit on a day with little wind. I've always thought that one of the reasons Cheyenne is so clean is because all our loose trash blows into Nebraska. You don't fly a kite in Wyoming...they fly you. But the heat and the cold in Wyoming are both dry and keep the temps comfortable. I grew up in NY where the first snowflake that fell in Oct. turned to slush in Nov. and finally melted in May. I'll take the wind.......

In the 4th grade I did my report on State History titled; WELCOME TO WONDERFUL WINDY WYOMING. That was more than 50 years ago and I still have the report. Cheyenne is not really a part of Wyoming. It was supposed to be in Nebraska but the wind blew the boundary line too far east and so Wyoming was enlarged by about 40 miles.

We’ve lived in Cheyenne, WY for 21 years. The dirt roads within the city are called “county pockets” because they’ve never been annexed into the city. From what I understand it’s very expensive for areas like this since the affected residents would have to pay to be connected city water & sewer as well as paving the streets initially & installing sidewalks. I’ve been up in the dome & it offers great views. It’s not open to the general public. It’s good that you came when you did in 2022 since the whole capitol building was under renovation for several years. You also just missed Cheyenne Frontier Days which is the largest outdoor rodeo in the world. The city is packed full of people then.

I grew up in Cheyenne and my first job was a dishwasher at Sanfords! Sanfords has always been a great place with an awesome atmosphere and great food. Hasn’t changed one bit. The city in the other hand has made a ton of improvements over the past five years and really improved their social/night life

Hi there! I’ve lived in Cheyenne for over half my life. You just touched on our murals, we have over 70 of them, and more are added each year. The bronze statues you showed are also part of a city wide project to add art to the downtown experience. One thing I must comment on is the gravel roads. They are actually pockets of county owned property that the city grew around, so therefore not technically in the city. Even though it is surrounded by city property. Not sure why that is, but that is why it is still gravel. I also have an historic home in the Rainsford district, unfortunately you didn’t show the cattle barons streets. 17th and 18th streets, and Carrie Avenue have a lot of original historic homes from that period. Also during that time Cheyenne had more millionaires per capita than anywhere in the US. Cheyenne’s history really is fascinating, I hope you look into it further. Thanks for a trip through my hometown. Didn't expect the murals or art. The ne side is weird. Some of it is county roads not city maintenance so gravel. Been that way for decades. County won't let go. City won't annex.. Cheyenne is facing a growth ending. It is surrounded by industrial, ranches and ranchettes. FE Warren AFB 150 Minutemen III missiles in NE CO. Born in Cheyenne, Welcome to Wyoming.. the dirt road are County road not city and city is in County.. 37:03 was stone my Father took out of Old Post Office was taking down, dad sold the stone to Fred Albert was old owner to that building before it was bar.

I'm enjoying this video! When I was 5 years old, we moved to Cheyenne for a couple years and lived in a log cabin across the street from the Capitol. Indians used to dance in front of the capitol one night a week. As an adult, I married and moved back to Cheyenne for about 4 years in the 1980's. All of the art work is newer... Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Edit: I just got to the part where you said you had your wife in tow...I was excited you showed the very corner (behind her) where our little log cabin sat all those years ago! That will be fun to show my grandkids! The bison in the museum sat just inside the front doors of the capital when I was 5. I spent lot's of time with him! Oh, and Wyoming was THE first state where women got the vote. "If they were herding cattle and killing rattle snakes, why shouldn't they vote", was the way I heard it...

You forgot they had the first woman governor as well. They used to be called the "Equality State", but since that no longer applies, I guess they put it in moth balls.
