31 Day Character Challenge: octaNe

Can I make 31 characters-one for each day in December? I'm gonna give it a try! Not only that, I'll make a video for each one and give each game an "unreview."
The rules are:
1) I have to like it,
2) I have to have bought it, and
3) I must do my best to use E-Prime, a linguistic tool that forbids me from using the verb "to be."

And this is one of *many* reasons why Jared Sorensen is one of the best designers out there. (That airplane story really made me howl in praise!) Up the irons, and keep that bassline pumpin' I really gotta run octaNe at a point. And yeah, John, you can be cool. Don't sell yourself short.

Your character sounds like they should be the Big Bad in a game of Octane! I really don't understand your beef with Apocalypse World (or more accurately PbtA as a design ethos) given how much you praise (and write) systems that do the same things you say you dislike (and praise systems that do those negative things). Each to their own, but given the love you had for MASHED I'd love to see what you make of some other PbtA games, especially the diceless variants (Dream Askew, Undying, etc).

Loved Octane! Hit me right in my improv theater nerd heart and got my mind set for the what was on the horizon like Apocalypse World. Which I really love as well. Thank you for this series!

Sadly, one of the early indie games I never got around to playing, but I heard its legend far and wide. And just for the record, although I don't want to put words in his mouth, I doubt Vincent or any other Forgizen would deny the influence of Jared's work, since it was from them I heard all the legends.

I dont know what to think about the narration switch mechanic systems. On one side its a cool idea. On the second my players (and they are good creative players) Never want to decide what happens. Makes them feel awkward. They dont use points to add stuff and the campaigns never last more than a few sesions. Am i doing something wrong or it just goes this way?

Run the game your players want to play. If they don't want to play something, they won't have fun.
