Ages ago, dragons waged war against each other. In their conflict, they empowered human pawns with drops of their dragon's blood. These would become the royal families of humanity's kingdoms. As power corrupted the dragons, they chose to discard their physicals forms to become spirits rather than submit to their bestial urges.
But humanity continued the conflict for centuries. Soon, Garon, King of Nohr, covetous of the beautiful lands of neighboring Hoshido, lured the rival king, Sumeragi, to a peace negotiation, but instead killed Sumeragi and kidnapped his child. To avoid all-out war, Sumeragi's widowed queen, Mikoto erected a magical barrier around Hoshido, sapping any Nohr soldier's will to fight. Hoshido made several attempts to retrieve the queen's child, but the child grew up, knowing nothing of their heritage.
Now, as Corrin, you’re sent on a mission to the kingdom border, but when things go awry, you’re captured by your sworn enemy who claim to be your real family. To make things even more traumatic, you can turn into a dragon. Now it’s up to you learn the truth behind the warring kingdoms of Nohr and Hoshido and declare your allegiance by purchasing one of two games. Unless you’d rather go rogue, in which case you’ll need the DLC, too! Have fun!

The story of all 3 versions (spoilers): Birthright- Be Japan and fight against Nohrian Scum as you grind to make your siblings marry ninjas and samurais and possibly even you. Invade your adoptive nation, kill your family, fight a dragon. Also, Azura dies from singing. Conquest- become the Nohrian Scum you are deep down to marry Awakening members and a bunch of Europeans. Experience the horror that is not being able to grind (like most of the series) and not making all your OTPs come true. Play maps with actually varying goals besides murder, and kill the pineapple guy with a bow who hunts you throughout the game after making his brother commit suicide. Did I mention there's boobs? Revelations- GODDAMIT THEY KILLED IZANA! Kill all the purple people using the powerhouses from both games, make ultimate OTPs, and kill Azura's mom who's your aunt (wait... that means... AZURA'S MY COUSIN?!), re-kill your mom, re-kill Ryoma's dad (who you think is your dad), kill your only father figure, and kill the main dragon who's your REAL dad. I mean, who even needs a parent when you get to a rule a kingdom with no subjects, no stable architecture, inconvenient passage in AND out of the country, and a curse that makes anybody who talks about it outside the country die? At least you get Fuuga... Best part of the game is killing Anankos with a Daikon Sword. He didn't like his veggies!

Oh and you guys forgot about the part where Robin and Lucina's companions Owain, Inigo and Severa attempted to stop the true villain by themselves. But of course they are unable to do anything other than kill tons of demonic soldiers and they never tell Corrin who the true villain really is. Could've helped if they at least told Corrin "Lilith knows something that could change the war and save the lives of your entire family."

You missed the part where the time travelers from Awakening went back in time to fight the dark dragon Anakos but don't because Anankos's human side decided it would be better if they watch over his son in Nohr and gave them all new costumes and names because video game. Fire Emblem's continuity is a complete mess.

+dragon heaven (dragonheaven) Which is why Awakening has weapons named after characters from every other game in the series, as well as references to the events of previous games and characters that implies they exist in Awakening's timeline (i.e. Ike's descendant appearing in Awakening with the Ragnell), to say nothing of the DLC and the mess therein? That aside, in Fates DLC "Hidden Truths", the one that brings in three characters from Awakening, Anankos explicitly states that what they're doing is time travel (as well as how they split themselves into two beings), indicating that not only did those events really did take place in the distant past (which is further supported by the "Before Awakening" DLC in how it referred to the two kingdoms of Fates), but the characters must know about the events that take place over the course of Fates. Which path and how they know about it isn't clear, but I gave up on Fire Emblem's continuity making any sort of sense after Radiant Dawn.

i went rogue in my first outing. thinking my experience in previous titles would see me through fairly easily. the thing i struggled with most was the dialogue. the over arching story i thought was neat but sometimes the dialogue just made me want to headbutt a wall.
