Lorelai doesn't even know how far from average her daughter is. Because if Rory was more normal like any other teenage kid (tv instead of books, having fun instead of focusing to Harvard, seeking privacy instead of having a codependent mommy issues, etc) then Lorelai would be toast. And don't get me started if she had a son instead of a daughter Lorelai couldn't even handle it.

Lorelai was justified here, Jess was being disrespectful to her, insulating her and saying things that aren't true, being a complete jerk to her in her own house and stealing from her fridge, I don't care how troubled his past is if I were Lorelai would've told him off too. This is a question of manners, no one can go to someone house and be a jerk. Luke was awful too, she just was trying to help him, to warn him about Jess being a difficult teenager.

The pep talk thing, been there done that, in both sides of the situation and you know what I've learned the hard way, first make sure they want your help. It's very simple actually (just as Luke doesn't want her help and he argues with her 10 seconds later). Oh, that's right!! I keep forgetting both characters and fans have double standards here. And you are a bunch of hypocrites here. Because unlike you I clearly remember when Emily Gilmore, Lorelai's own mother start meddling in Lorelai and Rory's life the minute she start paying for Chilton, and that's controlling and meddling (the second episode of the first season, don't believe me, watch it again) or when Richard took them to Yale, and Lorelai has every right to tell her to back off and let her be (even thou they are trying to "help" her, when nobody wanted nor asked them their help). But when Lorelai wants to "help" Jess, even though Jess doesn't want her help then he is being rude. Yeah, no double standards here. And unlike Lorelai, Jess didn't get pregnant at the age of 16, yet it's okay for her to be rude but not to Jess. As for the beer thing, I like how when people invite you over, it's okay to grab another sandwich without asking, but grabbing a beer, that's stealing!! (and for the record I don't even like nor drink alcohol) As for sleeping with luke. yeah. Hahahahaha, because I like how she talks about how she went through the same, the rebellious part, being dragged part, etc. But then she starts to talk about how great Luke is? Hahahahahaha 😂 what's that supposed o mean? So what, you don't have the right to complain nor disagree because Luke is a great guy? What kind of dumb logic is that? No Lorelai didn't force him to come to Stars Hollow, however, she could've asked him directly if he wanted to come and have dinner at her house. There is no way to justify this? Honestly I would say everyone involved is wrong here. Is Jess a jerk? Absolutely. Rude, disrespectful, inappropriate, criminal, etc. Did Lorelai have any room to approach him and talk to him to begin with? Outside of the beer, not at all. Everything she was saying was her stepping out of line with someone else’s child. The nephew of a very dear friend, yes. But still beyond what was appropriate at the time. Did Luke lash out at Lorelai because she was calling him out on real issues? Definitely. Luke wasn’t prepared for the troubled teenage version of his nephew, had no experience raising a kid, and didn’t want to even think that he might be wrong. I think everyone makes mistakes, which I would actually say makes for good writing.

I am one of the few that think Jess and Luke were complete jerks. Lorelai didn't say anything bad to Jess for him to react the way he did.

To be honest the fight scene I can understand where both were coming from, Lorelai does have a habit of going to into people’s business and she of all people did NOT have to talk with Jess in private about all that stuff but she is the main character show wise and has to be included in most plot points but Luke shouldn’t have brought her pregnancy into the argument. Also Jess is Jess and it is very easy to see how she got upset. I think this fight is way more important than people make it out to be.

Loralie knows absolutely nothing about Jess except he is being sent to live with his Uncle. She thinks she is doing favors for Luke and his nephew. She doesn't know Liz, who we find out later is the real "nut job" according to Luke. Start at the source of the problem and the remedy can be found in that. Loralie actually put Rory and Jess together. She said to ask Rory where all the "wilding" is in Stars Hollow. Sounds weird , since Rory is a bookworm, and there isn't anything wild in The Hollow. Jess is from New York. Living with his wacky Mom. It doesn't get any Wilder after that. Jess is just a product of his environment. Liz had to change his environment.
