Very interesting, important episode. I totally understand his deep feelings about fitting in when one is an outsider.

While listening to your rumination of this episode, I'm thinking of another missed opportunity in Voyager. A Moby Dick style story arc in which a law officer or bounty hunter pursues Voyager across the quadrant. It would have to be played by someone with a great amount of charisma and relatability.

Thats funny, I felt like she absolutely understood what he was saying when he told her he could leave. I thought she chose her words very deliberately so that he was able to fully hear them, and link them to his place on the ship even when shes angry with him hes no less part of the ship. I think she knew 100%. And to drive that home further, the camera lingered on her face after he walked away and she looked deeply moved, and sad that he had been afraid he wasn’t wanted. But also… i don’t have great ability to read tones or faces so maybe im wrong.

I really enjoyed this episode. I really like Neelix or 'the Neelix we could have had', and it was really nice to see a good Neelix ep. I especially love the big smile on his face at the end when Janeway is sentencing him. Even his punishment is paradise and a privilege to him. A great way of showing without words how grateful he is to remain a part of this family.

I recently replayed KOTOR (again!) for the umpteenth time, and finally, FINALLY, figured out why that mercenary at the Hrakert Station sounded *so* familiar. Ethan Phillips does a very good job of conveying the sense of being terrified and completely uncertain of anything.

Yeah Ethan Phillips actually did a few voices in KOTOR, was a bit weird for Voyager fans like myself. Did a great job though.

When Neelix said "I have nothing to lose"..... I guess he forgot he had Kes to think about.

It's funny you said that about Wix. I wrote a fanfiction in which Wix met Equinox and joined them.

I really liked how Ethan Phillips shows disgust and anger in Neelix's voice when he calls the villain a "lung maggot". It really stood out to me.

I love the scene with Neelix and Tom Paris, even though it‘s so brief.

Regarding videogames in Trek, I remind you of the following dialogue from the opening scene of TNG: The Mind's Eye. COMPUTER: Arrival at Risa is scheduled for oh nine thirty two hours. LAFORGE: Three hours. How about a game, computer? COMPUTER: Please restate request. LAFORGE: Something to pass the time, you know, a diversion. COMPUTER: Select either visual interactive or verbal interactive.
