Current female country singers have a very limited timespan. Think Holly Dunn, Rosanne Cash, Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood then Wynonna & Sara Evans. that's a 20 year span of incredible female artists snuffed out.... All thrown aside by tarts who are very proud and free with their crotches and are far to gimmicky. Duh, when 10 of your boyfriends dump you, you should be working on what's wrong with YOU, not writing songs about them!

I know for a fact she genuinely loves her fans, for, I saw her perform in Denver back in 1972. During the show the complete sound system went out, and, for 15 minutes she apologized at the top of her lungs! She truly IS "The First Lady of Country"!!...and, at 85 years old she's still performing! Is so great to hear her sing the songs on this video that I grew up with!

With Loretta Lynn's husband Mooney in this, this was most likely before his heart attack and declining health and sadly he passed in 1996. I would guess this was on the TV in the early-mid 80's. During thee 60's and 70's Loretta kept her hair long, but nothing long like her sister Crystal Gayle. That hair on Crystal's head must weigh 20 pounds, she's said it gives her headaches and neckaches once in a while and i found an interview of her here on KZbin and she talks about cutting her long hair about 12 inches to keep it off the floor and I think she donates her hair because here are several charities that collect hair donations to make wigs for children with cancer and different types of hair loss, and there are also groups that give wigs to adults....

RIP. I've been studying the Coal mining business in America for a week now. The life and times of Loretta Lynn embodies it. I went back in time on KZbin and traveled all through the Appalachian mountains through old footage and new , with the ATV crowd who ride them trails and go into those old coal mining towns. I could feel the spirit of those days. Being an FBA (Black American) with roots that go back to the Jim Crow south and beyond to the Antebellum period of the USA, I noticed how much of Black culture was adapted by these folks. From the food to the music and it was AMAZING to me how they did not give us ANY credit for it. They made it seem like it was something they came up with. When in actuality, so many of them really came through Ellis Island and not the "Mayflower" The fact that Loretta Lynn's mother was supposed to be "Indian" when it's plain to see she was of the $5 variety. That music, the style of her songs was purely and unmistakably, Black American. To give her all those accolades for copying the style and culture of a marginalized people is unconscionable to me. ALL that said, I am so proud to be FBA and although we do not get the credit for having such a large influence on the culture of America, we can look at Loretta Lynn's story and know full well how much we did. Black-folks were in those mines and built the railways leading to and away from them. They act as if we did not exits and had nothing to do with it by not showing or mentioning us, which proves the opposite, we had EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT!
@rooky55 Жыл бұрын
the story of the Alberta coal mining camps had so many ethnic groups that worked and died in those underground mines, including my mothers first husband. They had their own traditions and did not discriminate.
@GuyRBrewer109 Жыл бұрын
@@rooky55 Then why not mention the blackfolks who they emulated? Those other cultures were mostly foreign, they had no clue. That would not be true to the FBA. They were the cuture of America, according to a casual glance in a media studies book.

I think the side thing is today it's at our older country singers aren't recognized like they should be I think they should be recognized more than they are we all seem to forget that they are the ones that made music what it is Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette and Kitty Wells and Dolly Parton and Dottie West and and Patsy Cline all of them made country what it is Johnny Cash George Jones Conway Twitty Charlie Pride Ernest Tubb Little Jimmy Dickens and so many others who have passed on through the years we must take one radio station and turn it into their music even though the years have gone by they deserve recognition don't any but doesn't anybody agree with me I'm sure that the country singers that are still with us would agree with me Loretta Lynn you are one of the finest singers I have ever known I never heard I've no know you personally but I feel like I do you have done Justice to this world and you deserve all the credit at this world could ever give you Patsy Cline was your best friend Kitty Wells was one of your good friends tell me why not was one of your good friends and Dolly Parton is one of your good friends Conway with one of your good friends George Jones with one of your good friends and I'm sure Charlie Pride is as well and we mustn't forget the deer Kitty Wells you have all made country what it is and I wish that somebody would recognize all of you more if I had a license to have a radio station I have one for all of you you are all a blessing to us and you have made it what it is today your music will always be a legacy all of you I hope that all of you read this Vince Gill Alan Jackson Tim McGraw all of you I hope you remember what the older singers that brought to you and always remember that and Tom T Hall and all of them you've all been a blessing so if you really want to honor all these older singers why doesn't somebody help us get a radio station just for them

The king of country music George Jones Alan jackson and Sammy Kershaw along with a few others are keeping it real country and sing outer legends songs keeping there legacy alive. I think garth brooks and his wife are a pair of clowns on stage making a mockery of the grand ole Opry. Others like hank Jr are rock music. Like you say the pop Country are making money using the real country music but can't sing traditional country to save their lives. Today I hear urnest Tubbs record shop is about to close down and has been there since the 40s. Nancy sold up the George jones museum and all George Jones possessions and his name for the money and married kirk West the conman who went to prison when he came out he married Nancy. She never loved George the way people think she did. She used him to make her fortune. No George no money.

Replying to " monmixer ", during the 70's and early 80's, country was on TV with one big show like Hee Haw and since Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, at the time were the 2 women with great success in the male dominated country music world, and they would have 1 hour TV specials, especially around the Holidays and not just Loretta and Dolly, the great men of Country back when Country music was REAL and TRUE country music, not like today's "country-pop" music...

You forgot Tammy. I worked in that theatre since 1976. I eventually became on of the audio engineers on that Saturday night broadcast and we eventually did a lot of other shows and broadcast them on the radio. I'm sure I was there that night but I was likely running a spotlight.

That sure is old. I have worked in that theatre all of my life. Still have foot lights and the old gold curtains. WOW. I was about 21 maybe 22 years old. We got rid of those gold curtains and the footlights I would say in the mid 80's.

They ain't had a decent concert in that place since 82 or so. They pretty much gave up on the building and it fell into pretty bad shape. A few years ago they applied for some grants got it back business. Kinda sad really this is where they used to broadcast the Jamboree from. They'd have a couple big names per show and do so skits between acts. It was broadcast on a radio station 1170 AM, WWVA out of wheeling w. va. I pretty much hated it because at the time i was getting into bands like Pink Floyd and others but it was paps car and i had no say in what we listened to. Actually the 1st concert i ever went to was in this building. Got to see ted nugent before he became an asshole.

@@danielstewart7163 I knew Wheeling had a big roll in the history of country music but I didn’t know they had this jamboree. I was born in the 80’s so I would be too young to remember any of this but I’m from the southern part of West Virginia (the coalfields). I wish they could have kept the memory and momentum of the jamboree going but that seems to be all that WV has are old memories with no plans of rebuilding. I agree that Ted Nugent is an a$$hole.
