As a Combined Arms player, having a Karnov UR is a versatile fast transport to the battlefield. During After Action assignments, it plays multiple roles as troop and light vehicle transports, Medi-vac and salvage lifter/hauler.

With that remark of the civilian version of the Karnov being used to Ferry music bands and their equipment , you had me thinking of current-day bands trying to use a similar vehicle. Just imagine Metallica showing up in a V-22 Osprey VTOL, it just sounds awesome.

@@DIEGhostfish Haven't seen good STL clone of the Karnov, although there's certainly other stuff other there that comes close enough for proxies.

Hello CR. I used the Karnov as Maskirovka in a game with friends. By flying them on the map to a certain co-ordinate, over and over, I made it seem that I was moving troops and battle armor into the area. This caused my opponent to shuffle his forces and move to deal with the issue. This was all a ploy on my part, because all the Karnovs were outfitted with rocket pods. When the opponet's forces arrived and began looking around the map for my troops, the Karnovs pounced from the rear, showering the enemy with rockets and withdrawing. Even though the overall results were nothing much to write home about, the Karnovs did do some damage to the enemy forces, which forced them to withdraw and repair their units in the field. This in turn allowed me to actually move my forces without observation to new locations that led to a very nice ambush, highly tilted in my favor. Mostly because the opponent was convinced that my Infantry was elsewhere. To give you a referent... yes, we were using planetary scaled maps and moving unit markers here and there on the hex grid. Each hex of which was several maps in size. By doing this 'misdirection' maneuver, I forced the enemy commander to reposition his forces, allowing me to have a distinct force advantage at other locations on the planetary map. All while convincing him that my Infantry was positioned to defend a location with nothing in it! The Karnovs came into play again and again, after they were found to be armed with rockets. The opponet took quite some time to be convinced that ALL of my Karnovs were rocket types, and NONE were actually moving troops around. Ah, good memories. Warms the heart, it does.

This is one of relatively few BT minis that has seen a lot of use by 6mm gamers in other settings and systems. Pretty common sight on tables playing Dirtside II or Future War Commander IME. I've even seen it as a proxy in Dropship Commander, which is 10mm scale. The Iron Wind Metals sculpt has gotten stupidly expensive over the years though, and with no plastics on the horizon I doubt they're being bought much any more. All the ones I've seen were bought many years ago when they were brand new and relatively affordable.

I always need ways to get my chonky Kanazuchi into combat, but that whole paragraph about tilt-rotor sensors where you sounded like you were falling asleep could go.
