I'm old school... I cut my cloth about 4" bigger width and height (2" on each side) and typically start the design in the middle... IF I'm doing a large piece like the houses on pumpkin lane, then I'll leave a 2" margin.

I am trying to put my Lori Holt templates on a ring like you did.....what kind of punch did you use to do that? Obviously a better punch than I am using!!! UGH.......
