Tip: I use a small silicon spatula, from kitchen supplies at the grocery store, to hold down hot glued areas in projects. Just in case you can't find finger tip protectors at your craft store. Lori: I love all the sewing and quilting projects; and the videos are wonderful!!! Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for sharing with us. Those are so very handy and they sure do help with each project. I love them. I even have a quilt board on a wall in my sewing room big enough to put my blocks or layout to see if I like the pattern or the colors if not before I sew then together I can move them around to see if I like another placement better. Then when pleased with the look,I sew it together. I love these idea. Sewing is so much easier and I make sure the big projects are the way they were planned to look. It has been a life saver a few times when I have put pieces where they just did not go. I have leaned so much from you (a lot from you) and a sweet lady in the UK named Kate, her giant quilt board on one whole side of her sewing room. It’s awesome again thank you for saving me so many times with errors.😊

Thank you, Lori. I made three boards in an afternoon. They were fun to make. I appreciate you demonstrating how to make these boards. These boards will help make quilting so much more fun and enjoyable. They are so cute, too. Who can't help but smile when they see a board full of fabric ready to be sewn into blocks. ❤ A small tip - I used a t-shirt pressing silicone mat as my surface protector when using my glue gun. It worked great. I love your Scrappiness is Happiness book. The Santa hat quilt is on my to-do list for a Christmas quilt for my daughter.

Thank you, Lori!! I'm brand new to quilting, and always figured that keeping things organized would be my biggest challenge (one of the reasons I had never attempted quilting until now) - I would certainly sew seams the wrong way or add a block in the wrong place without some way to keep the bits organized. I really appreciate your tutorials!

Hi Lori, my gorgeous Sister Sheree from @Yarravalleyquilting in Victoria Australia has put me onto you ... she adores your work and designs. I've recently discovered quilting after our mums passing last year and I inherited her one of her sewing machines!!! As a creative and crafting family I've taken to it with passion and guts and together over Zoom we are doing your flea market flowers together and she has made me come and watch your videos on making the flowers and leaves. We are loving it. I then discovered this video and as someone just starting out im trying to slowly build both a stash and equipment and have now made about 15 different design boards to cater for all the up coming designs and quilts we want to work on. You made the video so easy to follow and im loving my new design boards ... thanks for being so inspirational and for sharing your knowledge.... you make it easy for a new novice to have expert skills .... I'm now a fan and addicted to your videos ..... truly blessed ... regards Mike 🥰

I've used a similar type of design board for years. Using corragated cardboard and felt, I have one that is 4'x8', 4'x4' and then an assortment smaller boards of 10"X10", to 24"X24". I've never bound my board as I simply fold and glue the felt over the edges of the back as, basically, I'm lazy. I'd never used batting for a cover as I tend towards high loft polyester batting and it wouldn't be sturdy enough. Craft felt by the yard has always worked well for me as it has a flat but enough texture to work like a flannel board. I once used felt and covered folding closet doors in my sewing room for a design wall. I took off the door knobs and taped and tacked the felt down. Worked like a charm.

I have made several design boards and a few bitty boards for my cross stitch. I like how I can keep things so much neater in my sewing room. I have to sew in short spurts usually and it makes it handy to have all the pieces ready to sew together. I don’t have to pull out my project bin and sort through all the pieces and arrange in the proper order. I am surprised at how much more I can get done in such a short time when all the pieces are on the boards ready to stitch. I love all your tutorials. I appreciate you taking your valuable time to up our game in the quilting and cross stitch world!!❤️🌻

I love these and they indeed do the trick of keeping your block designs in order! Thank you for sharing this DIY (even though you sell them yourself!) for those of us who love tackling them ourselves. EASY to make and fabulous to use! ***One suggestion:Use spray adhesive to put the batting on. It sticks easily and you can smooth it out as you lay it down. This is what works for me anyway.
@sandradee32043 жыл бұрын
HI Pam, I was just getting ready to use the spray adhesive also, but then I noticed the type I have is only temporary. What brand are you using? I just ordered a glue gun but would love to use spray adhesive if it could be permanent. TIA Sandra
@pamelaktay3 жыл бұрын
I use a brand called "LocTite". It is something you can find in most any store, not necessarily for fabrics. It says it is a light weight tack and works great to tack down the batting. I have never had any trouble with it coming loose. When it comes to putting the fabric around the edge I do use my hot glue gun. The spray adhesive would not work as it is not strong enough (and also it would spray all over your finished batting and make a terrible mess!)
