Unpopular opinion but in general Hispanics are culturally more racist than white Americans. Their race may not be relevant in this case but it’s always something to keep in mind considering the changing demographics. The fact they said some of the racial slurs in Spanish contributes to that too

I learned the hard way growing up in Miami. I always thought "black and brown" was a thing, but I was surprised when I realized how racist a lot of Cubans are. Often, even light skinned Cubans are racist against dark skinned Cubans. It was confusing to me, but I eventually got used to it.
