I hope everyone agrees that LA is a better fit for them so i can have SD to myself! LA is fun to visit but SD is a great place to live. (LA is basically a dirtier version of SD)

SD is actually a better place to visit, in my opinion. Better beaches with less people, Coronado, glider ports, ships, less dirty and dangerous downtown, it's a tropical paradise instead of a dirty crime center like LA

Note: In San Diego, don’t go to more southern beaches because sometimes, the runoff from a river in Mexico pollutes the water and makes it so you can’t get in the water. This includes Coronado Beach. Sometimes they’ll be signs on the beach telling you not to get in the water. Just take note of that if you’re visiting SD.

San Diego is my dream home, i love this city. There are over 70 public golf courses, hiking and biking everywhere and the zoo is world class. Business wise yes LA is king, but for quality-of-life SD is the place for me. You can walk from one end of the city to the other in a half hour, no one walks in LA. Plus, the LA traffic is the showstopper for me. LA is a great world class city and San Diego is heaven on earth. See you outside...

Thank you for the video! LA & SD are always compared & both cities are special in their own way. I'm a born & bred resident from the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas & have been to all 3 major cities in California. In my honest opinion, San Diego is wayyy better (most recent trip Nov 2022). It's like a cleaner, organized LA with far more water surrounding it. People are much friendlier, far less traffic, the vibes are def more chill, & it's the quintessential California experience. Like I know LA one can get better Asian food, burgers, fine dining, & varieties of cuisine better than SD, SD has pretty good options as well but on a much smaller scale. LA just has more when it comes to music, movies, entertainment, culture, shopping, museums etc. It's what they do best. SD excels best in beaches, nature, easy going lifestyle, zoos, relaxing, sightseeing, eating the best Mexican food & drinking the best beer. San Diego def should be talked about more since San Francisco & Los Angeles get all the attention!! Best city in California! Even my girlfriend who is from the East Coast who finally visited California in February took recs from me as the first city to visit in California has to be San Diego. 😄🙌🏾

Great video and agree. If you're a single person that doesn't work in entertainment and aren't worried about appearing cool based on where you live, there isn't an absolute clear winner. Big pluses for LA but also bigger negatives. If you have a family and can find a good job in San Diego, then it's probably better overall. Good point about the downtowns too. San Diego's is built on a bay close to the ocean, looks a lot nicer and active. DTLA is far from the ocean, a lot of it looks and feels run down and abandoned, many just have no reason to go there and don't. As for the poll results, I think a factor could be that there are way more people in LA and many people will side with their city over another, some may have never even been to San Diego. Like polling people on New York City versus Chicago.

@DryWall... talk about stuck up! Do you really think the diversity has something to do with how clean it is? There are nice AND diverse neighborhoods in LA that are very clean! I'm sure if I go to Appalachia I can find some pretty dirty not so diverse neighborhoods.... People just love having a punching bag, the bigger the better--gets their blood flowing I guess.

Fun video. Recently got a place in Carlsbad, CA. It takes me exactly the same amount of time to get to San Diego Airport as to get to the Southern part of Orange County (San Clemente). Between Oceanside, Encinitas, and Carlsbad, I feel like I can get to a not so crowded beach or a great food anytime and I have at least 5 good options of either I can get to in under 25 minutes. Also, there is a lot more to San Diego than the beach. There are tons of things to do inland and it is not a mass of humanity and their vehicles there. Curious what you think of Northern San Diego Country and Southern Orange County. I feel like people who live in either of those areas have the best of both worlds.

Great comparison. The Navy sent me to SD (1987-1991) and I fell in love with it. When I got out, I returned to the Midwest where I'm from originally. But SD kept calling me back, so I moved back in 2012 and plan to stay. I do agree with your comment about LA's location having better access to the rest of the state. I *loathe* driving across LA to get to places like Yosemite from SD. Angelinos spend sooo much time in their cars stuck in traffic they lose time for other activities. Not for me. While neither city has a world-class public transit system, I believe it's easier to get around in SD using the trolley (light rail) and buses.

OC has the best Vietnamese food scene and it’s the only thing keeping me here. But grid checker board system for roads makes it so monotonous to drive and just to get on the 405 or 22 takes forever, thus to travel 2-3 miles it would take you 15 minutes in local roads bc of traffic lights. In San Diego, it would only take me 10 minutes to travel 15 miles 😂 . In LA, it took me 3 hours and 40 minutes to go 45ish miles once 😂

I've lived in SD for nearly 20 years and can say that SD is a great place and has nowhere near as many homeless as LA, outside of downtown San Diego. That being said SD is now the most expensive city in the entire country. I'm moving up to LA for work purposes. Maybe I'm biased to LA because I have fun relatives there...?! I disagree on the "people". L.A. has more transplants than San Diego, who are generally more outgoing and interested in starting up conversation. Lots of friendly people in L.A. Aside from that, love the video!

SD rocks!!! we have Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Leucadia, Carlsbad, Oceanside. The traffic in LA sucks so bad, don't even drive on the freeway. Take the streets instead. I would classify LA for the younger generation 16-35 and SD for the older generation 36-70.

I lived in LA most of my life and it's true, there's definitely a lot more to to. I personally prefer San Diego as the laid back and chill culture appeals to me since my profession is stressful.

LA for me. It's much larger and has way more options. If downtown LA is not for you, there's downtown Long Beach. For a more laid back vibe, we got the OC and Malibu. We also have many ethnic communities to explore: Lil Tokyo, Chinatown, Thai Town, Lil Arabia, Lil Saigon, Ktown, Cambodia town and Little India

Michael's comments about Hollywood Blvd & downtown LA are not uncommon. In a way, however, both parts of LA are actually better today than they were yrs ago. Or back when some people claim that LA was a better place. Same thing is also true of NYC's Times Sq of today (more Disneyfied) versus its X-rated-porno-store past. LA's downtown is grimier than SD's downtown is, but it has more social or cultural, historic complexity than SD does. But different strokes for different folks.

Born ang raised in SD, lived all over over 22 years (downtown, Mission Valley, Lemon Grove, Mira Mesa, pacific beach). I’ve now been in LA county for 11 years (El Segundo, Mar Vista, Hermosa, Westwood, Redondo, Palms/Culver). I have to say, something about LA is just different. The sports culture and overall connection with the city is hard to describe. I also like the iconic neighborhoods to hang in like Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Los Félix, Malibu, etc. I think when I’m in my 40s and up (32 now), SD is much more chill and likely better. But for now LA just has much more to do because even being by the beach gets boring after a while and almost all of the cool SD cities are on the coast

I had a coworker point out a dent on my car on the passenger side, and I replied "Oh, that sucks, oh well." . Then he asked me if I grew up in San Diego. So I get it. We're certainly more laid back. I also probably use the phrase "No Worries" more than anyone outside of Australia.

I lived in San Diego for 15 years. In the early 90s I worked in LA 3-4 Days a week So I would commute by train. I absolutely loved that part of it. At first, I was completely enamored By Los Angeles. It also helped that I worked for A very high profile person And a lot of our clients were very famous people so we traveled a lot and it was great fun. As long as we were traveling. For a while though, I was traveling last and spending more and more time in Los Angeles and the thrill began to fade. It was the riots of 1992 That snapped me back into reality about The enormity of the city in which I spent most of my week! San Diego with much more my kinda city.

I lived in LA for a little while, just long enough. I always wanted to live in San Diego and I used to go there at least every couple of years. I haven’t been since Covid, but the last time I was in San Diego I was so disappointed that all of the beaches were paid parking. It used to be so beautiful and free. And the homeless situation was getting out of control. I miss California and I always thought I would end up there. I was born and grew up in Miami, and that Is no longer at all desirable to me. I just wish California would fix its politics, but right now, the whole country is in the same crisis mode. Now I live in the treasure Coast Florida, and it seems that everybody’s moving here from everywhere and although it was nice, it is becoming expensive and busy and pushy.

los angles is almost the same but San Diego is one of the most expensive housing markets in the united states . Ever since covid when they started letting people work from home we had so many people from san Francisco , east coast etc moving out to SD 😩 Part of the home price increases.

Besides Oahu, there is no other place I’d rather live than in San Diego county. I lived there for 31 years but 8 years ago I married a woman from the central valley and relocated there. I go back once in a while but I miss San Diego badly. My wife won’t move to San Diego county. Has her family here. Nothing in the Central Valley compares to San Diego. But nothing in San Diego compares to being close to Yosemite national park and sequoia national forest like where I am now.

No contest in my opinion. San Diego is a much better. Driving in LA is a nightmare. More homeless. It does have its charm. I did grow up in the San Diego area in the 60's and it was awesome. I visit a couple times a year . Don't ever plan to go to LA again. To me, it's a nightmare. Could careless about Hollywood.

It’s the same difference with the SFO Bay Area and the Greater Sacramento Region. Just exchange Tech and Finance vs Entertainment as the Bay Area’s main industry, while Sacramento is more laid back, nature loving, farm to fork.
