Los Traficantes retells the incredible true story of Esteban Mendoza Cruz, former Mexican drug lord, who in 1999 experienced a major transformation after finding redemption through faith in Christ while serving a 33-year sentence in La Mesa prison in Tijuana. The prison, one of Mexico’s most corrupt, was called “El Pueblito” by locals that frequently entered to buy drugs, hire prostitutes, or carry out other illegal activities.
This rapidly multiplying gospel movement was fueled by the simple power of the mustard seed. Caer en garras de las drogas y luego hacer tanto mal a la gente distribuyendo la misma es algo muy triste y quizá al principio parecería que todo estaría bien siempre pero no y ni el caer en prisión y sufrir tantas cosas pero en ése mismo lapso encontrar personas que te hablen de todo lo opuesto a la vida que se llevó y que es el camino de Dios, sin duda que es una oportunidad de cambiar y de empezar a vivir una vida real, una vida totalmente diferente y mejor es que Dios nos va forjando limpiando cada parte de nuestro ser transformando a ése nuevo ser en algo nuevo y diferente, qué gran bendición y lo mejor es que ahora se puede compartir el evangelio con personas que no conocen y que sin duda alguna se beneficiarán. La película es un vivo testimonio de que para Dios nada es imposible y que todos tenemos la oportunidad de conocerle y ser nuevas y buenas personas, buenas para uno mismo, para nuestra familia y para con nuestro próximo, nuestros hermanos!!!. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, it has been a struggle to get wider distribution. Its too honest and raw for Christian distributors but not gratuitous enough or in English language for mainstream. So it was released on Cine Latino, Lol. The film has impacted tens of thousands of lives as its been shown in juvenile halls and prisons in the US and Mexico. Its currently being shown to inmates in the Indiana State Prison System and we've heard powerful testimonies from lives impacted by it there. Please continue to tell your friends about it!
