It will also cause back pain. Doctors will also prescribe this medication even though you don't have high blood pressure. They will tell you it will help with your kidneys and liver, when never having had any prior complications.

I am taking the maximum dose, and so far I have no side effects, except for normal blood pressure. :)

In my experience Losartan has side effects connected with the blood vessel expansion which initially can be seen as red throat, red face and red hand insides. This can be helped on the way by hot weather and alcohol who also causes blood vessel expansion. This could after many years develop into a chronic illness of inflammation of throat and ears.

My 5th day now using 50mg Losartan and my blood pressure dropped from 143/98 to 110/80(avg). However, a side effect that I'm noticing now is irregular heartbeat after eating.

HI I have been taking 50 mg Losartin for five days. The BP relief is significant, but I do experience mild dizzines for about the first 12 hours. I am wondering if the dizziness goes away, in time as my pharmacist at Walgreen told me it does. I have a BP cuff and check my BP every day. Is it safe to reduce the dose to 25 my to get rid of the dizziness

​@@SeanzViewEnt..I eat bananas periodically and also so called healthy food and I have no adverse reactions from it. I've been on losartan for a few months. I was taking the other one that gave me the dry coughs, because of that the Dr switched it.

Honestly? I would definitely get a second opinion on what sounds to me like BS that Doc told you! I’m on Losartan 100mg & I eat all those healthy foods with NO PROBLEMS.. NEVER HEARD OF SUCH INFO AS THIS! Makes no sense at all! 😮😮😮

I have been on losartan 50mg water pil for a couple of years. I get muscle cramps, sore muscles and joints. Is this normal? My BP has been average 150/100 and my DR just changed my dosage to 100mg. Not sure if I should do this.

That is NOT A BP PROBLEM! That is NORMAL BP.. what’s your bottom # tho? But sounds to me that Doc just prescribing meds for the $$$… seriously, they get kickbacks! So I would get second opinion & DONT even tell the new one anything about your BP, ok? See what this new one does! It’s BS sounds like to me…trust me,u don’t even want to get started on the crap either! Side effects for me! I hate it… 😢😢😢

What about the side effects? If you're going to refer to these in the title, it should be discussed in the body. Also, no reference to the fact that many, many lots of this medication have been recalled due to cancer risks after long term use. I'm not trying to be negative; I simply did not get any information about this drug except that it is Top Tier & liked by physicians & insurance companies...

Hi @robertobeltran, Losartan is usually the cheapest of these medications. They are similar to each other. The maximum dose of losartan is Half as strong as the maximum dose of the other three medications.

How about Knee joint pain ? I'm taking this med and I am starting to have knee pain. 1st day my knee hurt even when I rest. Never had knee problem before taking this med.

My insurance company tried to force me to switch from benicar to losartan. My BP increased by 10 points. Doctor switched me back.

Yes the max dose of losartan 100 mg is half as strong as the max dose of benicar 40 mg. They might try to switch you next to irbesartan, that would be more apt to work than the losartan. Best wishes!

Weird because Benicar used to work for me but doesn’t as well. Losartan seems to work better with less dizziness and vertigo at 50 mg.

I think the doc said that Losartin Potassium (full name) will increase your potassium level; I was also taking a potassium supplement (for leg cramps) plus I like broccoli and avocados, both high in potassium, and I got real sick; I believe the overdose of potassium is called hyperkalima. I don’t take the supplement anymore and watch my potassium intake. I really Do believe that you can overdose on potassium if not careful. You don’t have to eat junk food, Just watch your intake of potassium.
