Lifelong diabetic type 1 with a heart defect since birth, yet using health and fitness, prayer, faith, and trying to be a good, kind, peaceful person who helps others, and loves animals and nature, enabled me to overcome it for a long time. Eventually though, it was bound to catch up. It’s weird to know you’re dying, yet still feel so alive like you want to achieve, adventure, and accomplish so much more… oh well…

One night I felt an elephant on my chest got up and chewed 2 aspirin and went back to bed. Next day I took an EKG which showed nada. Two weeks later I woke up with my upper left arm hurting (from e xerox ise class?), and later that morning, a pain in my chest. My lightning fast mind said it was a heart attack . At ER I walked calmly into reception, and the rest is history. Two stents and heart failure later, I am just finishing my rehab, doing very well!

@gloriamaryhaywood2217 He only found out he had AF when he had a major stroke & Bleed on his brain when he was about 51. When he no longer could afford medical insurance, he stopped taking his meds & then a year later, he went into cardiac failure at age 52. After being admitted to a state hospital for Cardiac Failure, they gave him Warfarin, & he had to go monthly to have his INR levels checked & they would adjust his Warfarin dosage. Then COVID hit & he stayed clear of a state hospital, so he started taking the cardio aspirin. He then passed away aged 57 after being in Cardiac Failure for 5 years. Apparently, that is a long time to live with Cardiac Failure & he was overweight. The Drs told him he went into Cardiac Failure because he never took his blood thinners & other meds after his major stroke. I'm afraid I have no idea what other meds he took. I guess they are all different in different countries worldwide. We live in South Africa. I hope this helps? I do believe people have a defibrillator fitted, which is like a pacemaker. A friend's brother had 1 fitted, but I have no idea how it works.

My best friend was recently diagnosed with heart failure after presenting at the ER with difficulties standing and walking. She had been gaining a lot of weight despite "successful" dieting, which was the first symptom. She is currently in a nursing home rehab after being in the hospital for a week. Within the past 5 weeks, she has lost 117 pounds and over 100 pounds was water weight! No wonder she couldn't walk. As far as breathlessness, she had asthma since childhood so in hindsight, breathing had become more difficult also.

In 2003 I had my second open heart surgery where my pulmunary valve was replaced with a pig valve. It was around this time I started getting tired and found out I had CHF. 2010 was the doozy: Open heart surgery number three. I had my pulmonary valve replaced (with a homograft), mitral valve replaced, bicuspid valve replaced along with a twisted ascending aorta, and chordae "flopping" around on one of the valves. On top of this, I am on my third AICD. I have had chronic tiredness for years but still seem to get up and go.

My mums brother died suddenly in a doorway after running to the neighbours house five hundred yards away for help when he had a water leak. He was only about 65, he wasn’t overweight,didn’t drink or smoke, was fit and did a fair bit of running. Anyone would think or believe that he would last till ninety. Mum couldn’t understand it so asked the pathologist. It turned out he died of “Angina of Effort”, ( Pheidippides Cardio Myopathy they call it now) . He said it’s caused by not stopping and easing up when your body tells you to. At some stage maybe months or years before he strained his heart, probably running up hill and down dale. Hence the renaming, Pheidippides should have slowed down a bit when he approached Athens after running all the way from Marathon in 490BC. He was the best courier the Greeks had, a professional dispatch runner and he wasn’t very old either. So as someone once said “ Hey, let’s be careful out there”. 😊

Good afternoon Dr My son was diagnosed with Heart Failure October 2022 on his 44th birthday 27/10/2022. My son has been diagnosed with Heart Failure over 2 years ago. He is 45yo. He has a pacemaker and defibrillator inserted. He suffers from all the 5 symptoms you have just stated. These symptoms only commenced after being made to get the COVID vaccination in order to keep his job. Following the vaccination he immediately became so unwell that he was bedridden for 4 days which he only just slept and drank water. He lost his job anyway. The 2nd time he was made get the COVID vaccination was so he could get into a Refuge as he had been made homeless as he lost his job and was evicted from the rental place that he had recently moved into. He again fell so ill that he was unable to get into the refugee as they don't take anyone after 10pm, and he had gone to the hospital and then had to leave to make it to the Refuge, consequently missing the deadline. He had no where to go and was so sick spent the night in a park near the Refuge. He was so sick he spent was bedridden for 10 days. It was after this that he moved back home. He became breathless and thought it was stress at not having a job and any money. This breathlessness only worsened over the.next few months. He was unable to sleep as when he lay down he couldn't breath. This continued for a couple of nights and it became so bad that he woke me at 2 am and asked me to call the ambulance. This was October 2022. He was in hospital and his heart capacity 14%. The doctor said he is lucky to be alive. We live in NSW Australia. I would like your opinion that it is possible that it was COVID vaccine that caused the heart damage. No-one believes me or my son it was due to him being made get the COVID vaccine.
@DrewJmsnАй бұрын
I am not an "anti-vaxer" and this is purely anecdotal, but I know multiple people who developed heart problems very soon after getting covid vaccines, and two of them passed away from those heart problems. None of them were pillars of good health before that, but none of them had heart problems before that either. Maybe it's a crazy coincidence but I doubt it. I don't think there was some conspiracy but it's hard not to think those vaccines were harmful to _some_ people.
@DrewJmsnАй бұрын
I am not a conspiracy nut nor am I against vaccs, but multiple people in my immediate sphere developed cardiac issues within days or weeks of getting _those_ vaccs. None of them were pillars of health to begin with, but _none_ of them had known cardiac trouble before that either. Big picture, the vaccs were obviously necessary and served the common good, but I do believe they led to tragic consequences for _some_ people. There was simply too much of that for it to have been coincidental.

It means your son had of heart function of only 14 % and he had no symptoms before this incident. It must be tokutsubo cardiomyopathy,the only one,which goes into remission.

Thank you for this explanation - I ended up in A&E on Saturday - I had funny tingling down one arm, and in two fingers on the same hand, with a feeling of discomfort across the top of my chest. I have previously had severe covid, and was diagnosed last year with Covid induced asthma. My blood pressure had also gone up from normal to around 145/95 (this is abnormal for me). I have complained for nearly four years that my heart feels out of whack since I had covid. So they did an ECG, took bloods etc, and said I was fine, and sent me home. The only new thing I learnt was that I now have Sinus Arrhythmia (something I didnt have pre-covid, as I had an ECG a few years before). I am concerned they didnt do a scan of the coronary arteries, while I was there - so intend to pick up with my GP tomorrow. Hence why I am here, double checking stuff - thank you for leaving this for us all to read.

I currently have Asthma and Restrictive Impairment, Sleep Apnea, Gerd and other illnesses. Whewww, overwhelmed. I stay sick...chest tightness, shortness of breath, hoarse alot, etc My pulmonologist just made me appointment with heart doctors for a Carotid Doppler Ultrasound and Echo. I have a heart murmur, which have never given me problems. Because I felt dizzy recently, my head has a funny feeling and she heard a sound on my neck, she wanted me to take the tests. May be just Asthma and Gerd related, but glad she want to have me checked out to be sure nothing is going on with my heart and artery in the neck. I will take them next week. Praying all goes well.

Constantly fatigued, breathless upon exertion, swelling in the lower legs, on 5 different blood pressure meds, and a general sense of unease all the time. Oh yes my weight is up almost 20 pounds in the last six months. Hoping for better news Monday but not holding my breath. Switching to a more plant based diet now.

Breathlessness when I exert myself a bit too much where I had to stop everything while struggling to get my breath. I made 2 trips to emergency and 1 to my doctor. The doctors at emergency claims I wasn't having a heart attack. My MD just sent me home and told me to rest. I demanded a heart scan which turned up calcium buildup on my heart arteries. I started taking Cod Liver Oil which really help because the 2nd heart scan showed that the Calcium was mostly gone. I never had any more problems until 2023 when I started having severe pain around my heart if I walked a little fast. But when I tried to mow my yard the pain really kicked in. I put my mower up and went to emergency again. And the next thing I knew I was taken by ambulance to the hospital in another city and was put in the ICU for a week where I had open heart surgery on April 13 2023. Keep my fingers crossed but I can walk fast, work out with weights and mow my yard again.

Hi @The Heart Doctor, Two years back I encountered a sharp pain in my left chest after one day of taking the third coronavirus vaccine (Mordana). I struggled to breathe for approximately 20 minutes, then the discomfort reoccurred after a 10-minute interval, persisting for another 20 minutes. I promptly dialed 911 and was admitted to the emergency room. Despite a thorough examination, the doctors couldn't identify any apparent issues. Subsequently, my family doctor recommended checking my cholesterol levels, revealing alarmingly high results. Upon learning about the potential side effects of cholesterol medication, I opted for a lifestyle change. I started going to the gym, and last year, I didn't experience any issues. However, this year, my diet became a bit lax with the occasional indulgence in carbs and Costco cakes, leading to a recurrence of symptoms. I sought emergency care, but once again, doctors found no clear issues. Now, my family doctor has advised me to consult with a specialist.

She is about to turn 56 on Christmas Day! And she is scared! She has been suffering all of these symptoms for over 5 years now. A Rheumatoid Disease diagnosis in 2020 has overshadowed this more serious problem until now. She has suffered Chronic Anxiety for long time. That anxiety is exacerbated 200% by this recent diagnosis. We are seeking a second opinion on treatment and management going forward. As the (private hospital) Dr who gave the diagnosis was absolutely lacking in empathy and information.

I’m in Darwin Australia, I have had AF for a long time, it started when I was about 20, and used to come and go, most often only for a hour or two before going back to sinus rhythm, then in 2016, something felt like it broke in my chest, and AF was happening, silly me waiting for it to go back to sinus rhythm, but after two weeks ( not a good move) went to the hospital to get it checked out. Well after cardio version, nothing, it was permanently in AF, and about a week later after lots of tests heart failure set in, along with cardiomyopathy, hypertension, and ischemia ( sorry not sure of what type), so, now 8 years later still heart failure, and cardiomyopathy, fatigued all the time, breathless all the time, and very fed up with being incapacitated, as I was always very active and hard working, a loved my sports, now nothing I can’t walk more than 40 metres
