I love how you keep saying it's not a diet. It's balanced eating. There's no gimmicks, no counting, no points, no false unrealistic promises. You make a lot of excellent points. You can tell you've lost weight, it shows in your face & neck. Way to go on your weight loss!

Yes, I am finally starting to notice it. I can't believe how bloated the sugar that I was eating made me. It's nice to climb the stairs and not have my knees throbbing.

So happy for you. I have decided to implement this way of eating also. I'm 71 and am 40 pounds overweight. Even if it doesn't help me lose weight, I will be eating healthier.

So proud of you! It's all about finding what works for you and feels right in your lifestyle. For me, I gave up grains & sugar (I'm an addict), I went low carb/high fat, everything fell into place for me. I don't have to measure/count, I rarely get hungry or cravings anymore, and it's just so sustainable. Best of all, down 85 lbs, and on the verge of reversing type 2 diabetes after 20 yrs of being on insulin & meds I'm off almost all of them. Labs are great. Never thought this would happen at 54 yrs old, esp. since I can't exercise much.

Good afternoon, Cathy. Thank you so much for sharing your current weight loss journey. I am 81 years old and have been dieting for the past 48 years or so. I have lost 85 pounds but only 40 of which are from the past 3 years. My daughter, Heidi, is on Keto which is not for me but because I am or was diabetic I started paying more attention to my carbs. I have a plate much like the one you show in this video. It is made by Corelle U.S.A. It is a large plate so I still measure my meals. I believe that I purchased it from Canadian Tire here in Windsor, ON, Canada but that was ages ago. I'm enjoying your videos. I am so happy for you, WOW 14 lbs. lost, WOOHOO! One last note, I was on insulin but now I'm off it and a lot of other meds. too. YOU GO GIRL!!! 💞

Impressive weight loss. People forget that high fiber high nutrient foods like potatoes, lima beans, and whole grains and legumes/beans contribute to fullness and have beneficial effects from the nutrients and fiber that to me offset the calories. No cholesterol, no saturated fat, etc. Our safeway stocks frozen cooked lima beans with no salt added, so we stock up on them. 😂 great job! ❤

If you haven't tried already, place a few grapes in the freezer overnight. The next morning, I swear the frozen grapes taste like you're eating candy! I guess its the same idea as when they make iced wine. Love your videos 😊 Christine from Ottawa

Not telling anybody where to shop. But I have found Aldi store is best place far me to grocery shop. Has food that is organic foods that are in my budget. Store brands most have no harmful dies or High Fructose Corn Syrup in them. My weight loss journey is to make my self more healthy. Have not cut out any group of food

I restarted calorie counting using the Healthiapp with macros to be sure I'm getting enough protein, but am using your balanced plate method too. Need to lose before my dr appt.

Wonderful, Cathy! 🎉 Congratulations! My advice as an older lady in her 60s is to fall in love with a sport. When you love a sport, healthy diet and exercise will be a no-brainer. The reason is that you will eat and move to improve performance in your sport! Your questions will focus on “How can this help me improve in my favorite sport?”. That’s how it’s worked for me and it could work for you as well. It can be any sport: tennis, running, pickle ball, yoga, dancing, etc. The point is that whatever we love will become our focus and our “why”.

Thanks for recommending this method! I was aware of it but never really tried it because of my disbelief that it can work after years of accounting for and logging everything I ate. Not having to count and log all of the things is really freeing. Keep it up and give yourself a hug. You're doing great! P.S. I also do not like peas. 😂

I just found your channel a few days ago. You describe me perfectly! I totally believe sugar is as addictive as any drug or alcohol. I have fibromyalgia, Arthritis, suspected Lupus. You’re eating a primarily plant based diet and that is very healthy. Also you’re helping your gut microbiomes by increasing fiber. You just feel a lot better!

Looking at that pizza I was drooling🤣🤣I haven't had pizza in months! Like you, Cathy, I ate a lot of sugar, bad carbs, but, I no longer do that, not going lie, at least once a month I do have some treats, although, it's not good because it causes a binge for days, I don't do that anymore, I eat what I'm craving for that one treat day and get back on track right away. You're doing amazing, you can see it in your face

oh my gosh! I ate a TON of mini cookies last night and my legs and joints ached SO BAD when I went to bed. It was from the sugar! Thank you SO MUCH Cathy for sharing this information with us. Eye opening is a good word for sure. I would be grateful if you shared your meals with us. I need to get more movement too. Getting protein is very crucial for me to keep me full and not graze during the evening hours.

Oh my we are kindred sisters. I have a real problem with sugar. I like the plate division idea and the soup question is a great one. Also good to hear that eggs for breakfast isn't a go to, because I am allergic to them, along with bananas. I've yet to see a plan that doesn't include both. So this is good news. Hi Cathy I am in England and I too am prediabetic and the drs have put me on the second nature program it is amazing and exactly the same as what you are doing you can join without your drs. Would love to see some what I eat in a day videos. I too have Greek yogurt and berries but instead of granola I toast sone pumpkin and sesame seeds and almonds it’s yummy

You can toast the pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds and chopped nuts in a dry frying pan I do a jar full at a time and then sprinkle the toasted seeds on salads too trust me they ate delicious

@Cathy I’ve noticed if I eat a lot of sugar I noticed aches also. I’ll get aches in my shoulder places and sometimes in my arms. And some is in my joints and some is in random places. I’m so glad you said that

Hi Cathy! I'm 53 and ever since menopause started in 2020 I've had horrible sugar cravings and managed to gain 20lbs. Sugar is the problem for sure. It's so difficult to stop it! Thank you for this!🎉🎉 I was doing WW, Lose it , and Fitbit. I am currently going through a stressful time and took my fitbit off, stopped using my apps and am not stressing about points or calories. I have been doing this for so long, that I know the amount of points and calories in just about everything! I've started to try this kind of eating. I actually have sectioned plates to use if I want to. ❤

I started the Omada plan. So helpful. They also subscribe to the plate set up you use. No food is really off limits. It’s about making better choices. I don’t weigh or measure. I also am a sugar addict. My first goal was not to buy spice drops and circus peanuts. Sounds small, but I buy a bag take it home and it’s gone.will I never eat sugar again. Of course, but not like I did.

Thank you for sharing,....... I tried Weight Watchers couldn't get to grips with it ,then tried Slimming World lost the weight became complacent, weight returned, tried again , couldn't get the word Syns or Diet out of my head , so I'm on a hiding to nowhere 😁 I'm in my 60's, I do eat healthier now i do eat rubbish now and again then regret it 😊 that's life ! I generally follow the 80 / 20 rule be good 80 % of the time and be happy 20 % 😂 ..... thank you for sharing again, looking forward to your next podcast, I have subscribed and given a thumbs-up, you are very inspiring! xx 🇬🇧

Well done! I’m so glad your diet - that is not a diet - is going so well. I’m trying to loose about 5-7 kg. I’m not on a diet either but am trying to modify my eating slightly, much along the same lines as you. I focus on having good, healthy food (lots of fish, chicken, a little meat, fruit and vegetables and healthy carbs) and staying away from processed foods and sugar. Even after only a week, Ive noticed I feel so much better when I don’t eat sugar. I didn’t do so well over the weekend and had a couple of glasses of wine on Friday and Saturday but looking forward to week 2.

You're doing great, Cathy. When I retired I knew I wasn't going to be as active as when I was working. I think I told you before, I changed the way I looked at things. I decided there would not be a diet, it was a life style change. If I want something, I eat it - just not as much of it and definitely not all the time. That's what works for me. I'm much older than you are and I have trouble walking, so exercise is difficult. But this is what works for me. I'm glad things are working for you too. Keep it up and you'll get there. ❤
