I just stopped 5 years of keto. First couple months I lost 20 lbs on keto, since then I’ve gained back the 20 lbs plus some. Lost 10, gained 15…. On and on. Following your guidance with coming back to normal eating. 2nd week in and I just put away my scale, which was so hard for some reason. I’m ready to do this for the rest of my life.

That is great- the frustration and disappointment of keto is, as I have said many times, the worst. And the good food/bad food mentality really handicaps us. The breadth of this transition out of diet culture should not be underestimated. It is 1. Stop dieting. 2. Actively replace your diet mentality with a Happy Weight Mentality- This means eating intuitively in response to hunger to get and stay at your happy weight. The word Actively is really important. You must actively engage with your Happy Weight Mentality until it becomes automatic- which it will. We have help on our website, (books and course) and I am all over social media, FB, Tik Tok, IG etc. For those with financial hardship, I do have scholarships. I am so glad you are here- commit some time and energy to this and you will never look back!! Thanks for commenting and again- welcome to your Happy Weight Mentality!

I did keto for 2 mths with intermittent fasting, I lost weight but just couldn't keep it up. Gained the weight back plus a few extra kg. I've tried to diet for the past year and fail miserable everytime. My boyfriend tries to encourage me but it backfires then I binge eat. Ive struggled with food issues for 30 years. I've watched so much stuff on you tube my head spins and they contradict each other. I'm glad I came across these videos cause God I need some help.

Hi Meg, i love your channel, thank you! Hey i would love to hear some time the story of how you ended up at the bottom with dieting, how heavy were you at your worst, and the process of how you learned from your grandmother about the simple easy relaxing truth of hunger and satiety when it comes to eating mentality

What I’ve really been struggling with is the panic that comes with hunger. The “oh no” and frustration of not having food immediately because I’m hungry and need to get rid of that feeling fast. But then adding that to the feeling of needing to finish everything I’m eating. So I either way too little so I don’t waste food or I eat way too much and way too fast

This is very interesting Meg thank you. I have found for me personally I can have a ‘fake’ hunger in the morning (I’ve usually had a lot of sweet stuff the night before) and if I eat, it makes me feel sluggish. Whereas if I hold out until lunch I have more energy. If I have not eaten much the night before, I have a different kind of hunger - a “proper” hunger and my energy is sapped if I don’t satisfy it. Does this make sense?

Yes absolutely- and it is great that you are paying attention to this and modifying your behavior based on your body's voice. That is great progress!!! thanks for commenting!

I just started IE and now I’m hungry all the time! I want to lose weight not gain! If I listen to hunger cues all day I’ll be a whale. I’m hungry yet I have no cravings and I’m too lazy to eat. It’s like a nuisance

Just started? How long ago? Giving up dieting and overeating is hard. If you are too lazy to get up and find food, you are ignoring your cues. Also what hunger do you have? True hunger where the upper part of your stomach is empty and growling and your mouth is hungry? Or do you just want to taste something so you are feeding just your mouth? Or is it in your head and food sounds good, but your body isn’t hungry? A lot of us think intuitive eating will turn us into a fat vacuum cleaner when really, dieting and gluttony has made us impatient and close-minded about getting back to how we ate as little kids.

@@kaylajames3098it feels like my stomach is empty and growling yet I have no cravings so I don’t know what to eat but I feel the sensation of hunger and definitely not emotional eating. It’s just like my stomach can’t get full and I nod need to lose 10 lbs. I’m 140, 5”4 and my healthy weight is usually 120-130 lbs range. I’ve got extra fat on my back and arms. I sort of want to ignore the cues bc I don’t know what I want so I eat protein with fibre to try and satiate myself for longer. Normally I don’t get this hungry.

@@adriana77 maybe eat just two bites of something or drink water. I am 5:3 and anywhere between 145 to 150. I understand, but starving yourself will only put on more weight if you do it long enough.
@adriana777 ай бұрын
@@kaylajames3098I’ll try a couple bites here and there. I’m not really trying to starve but I have no appetite yet physically hungry. Very strange indeed! Hopefully I can lose those last 10 lbs this year and I don’t mind going slow and steady. I’m g see pier not having to track. It’s much better.

Is IE really best for everyone? What if we have compromised interoception due to medical issues and the meds we take to treat them? Is it really so terrible to track my calories and macros to make sure I’m not eating too much or too little? I’m short so I find it’s really hard to just eyeball portions and get it right, and getting enough protein and fiber does not come naturally to me at all. I always end up losing weight too quickly or gaining when I try to be intuitive. I’m never totally hungry or totally full because of my ADHD meds and PCOS and long distance running as a hobby. I guess I feel less stressed just tracking and knowing for sure I’m meeting my needs responsibly, but I see so many RDs insinuating it’s dangerous/disordered and IE is better so now I’m second guessing myself. IE seems better for people with EDs and issues with diet culture but not so much other chronic illnesses, no? Or am I deluding myself somehow?

hi i love your videos! how long did it take you to see weight loss results while intuitively eating?
