AJ, I am a new DBXL-E owner and recently came across your videos. Really easy to follow and very thorough. I have been around R/C since about 1985 or so and my last build was an HPI Baja 5Bss. I upgraded just about everything from plastic to aluminum but watch your videos about upgrading the braces got me to thinking as to wether upgraded aluminum parts are simply a money grab by the builders or truly beneficial in the event of a hard hit. I think we can all agree that the Al will be stronger, but I wander at what cost to other parts and if the original designers expect some parts to take the load and break to prevent further damage to larger/more expensive parts. What love to get your take on this theory...better to just replace with a cheaper part that gives some flexibility and a failure point versus a more expansive, possibly heavier and yield point that exceeds what it is mounting too. Appreciate your time and thoughts on this.

Great vid and very helpful thanks! I also found that the rear brace system screws that came with the upgrade were slightly to long. I was wondering why and then realized that when you use the longer screws it gives the whole brace rear brace system a little play since the aluminum arms are now rigid. Use the longer screws, it's designed that way. 😄

Don’t forget to modify those punch settings. Run it at 5 and maybe go to a 16T pinion vs. the stock’s 13T.

A few other things I have learned is the tire inserts will come apart after a few hard runs. I upgraded to the pro-line badlands mx43's. The stock spektrum 160a esc, just isn't powerful enough for the heavy dbxl-e 2.0 and I truly think that is what is causing my overheating problem no matter what batteries I run. I will be upgrading to the castle xlx2 and the 800kv motor with the 8mm connectors. I haven't broke any of the chassis braces yet but I've had to replace the left lower control arm ( damn tree just jumped right in front of my rc) , steering knuckle connecting rod (perfect cartwheel), rear wing ( replaced with an arrma kraton 8s wing, more flexible), upgraded the shock springs ( stock springs are weak). The spektrum servo broke within 10 mins of second set of batteries (gear pin inside servo bent). Just today hit a chain link post and took off the left wheel, control arm, shock, sway bar link ( I mean completely off the vehicle) . The damage looked a lot worse than it actually was, just need to replace sway bay link (broken) and the shock top mounting cap (broken).

You must have really strong arms, to be able to remove the wheel nuts with only the tool that came with your 'Losi'!

The first time I had to remove a wheel-nut from my 'Losi,' I thought I was going to look like a wimp in front of my kids, before I attached a vise-grips to the handle, and pushed down. Cracked my knuckles against the table pretty good, but, at least I didn't look like a weakling to the kids.

This truck is built pretty damn well Known of this would have happen if you wasn't abusing the it. Chassis slapping it and jumping it like it have the suspension travel, of a Xmaxx is just dumb. I see so many people with this car buggy jumping it off PALM.

I know the dangers of jumping it, it is a big rig after all. But that's the way I like to do things. I am not afraid of breaking it, since I can get the parts to repair it. Plus, the thing is super durable and holds up to almost everything I throw at it. To me it doesn't matter, how big, long, or fast it goes, it is all the same. I run these to get a thrill and spend my time, nothing more. For me, my cars are not trophies, they are simply toys I like to bash and play with. To each his own, I guess. Thanks for the comment. AJ

We’ve had some really good luck with both RCs. They are both impressive, both fast for their scale. I love both but have always had a thing for Losi. Still, as of right now the Kraton is number one on our list while the DBXLE is 3rd. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. As always, the choice is yours. Best of luck choosing 😎👍

great vid do you ever plan on upgrading the motor and speed control?
@AJJAMStudios
@AJJAMStudios 3 жыл бұрын
Not as present. For me, the thing is fast enough to thrill me. It already beats the gas version, even with the upgraded motor. However, I'm not sure of the gas car's gearing either. Thanks for the question. AJ

I found the handling, under my circumstances, to be just fine as it came out of the box, so No, not to put too fine a point on it. If I were racing or cornering on a track of some kind I probably would adjust the center diff, but as things stand the car is performing just fine as is. Thanks for asking, and thanks for paying attention to the details. AJ
