@@Dinkslayer681 The real leverage the tour had was the “private investors” involved in the process. Now obviously the Saudi’s are not happy with the negotiation process if they’re still poaching players. It’s interesting also that they originally agreed to that clause in the first framework agreement. Now LIV just got the guy they’ve been recruiting away from the tour for two years. The guy who we all thought would never have a price. The guy who said money wouldn’t change his lifestyle and that he didn’t even like the format or shotgun start. The guy who Phil has said on multiple occasions didn’t have a reason to come to LIV. Now this price (along with the $300+ million) is likely going to come with changes to the format at Rahm’s request, potentially rules changing the OWGR’s stance. I don’t even think that part of it matters anyways. Him going to LIV just made every single other pga golfer second guess their decisions (outside of Rory/JT/Jordan/Scottie etc.) and will open the floodgates for guys to come over. What matters is at some point this is going to transcend the Saudi “blood money” narrative in the news for the American corporations and other investors looking to get in on LIV. Now that they have probably the biggest guy in golf, with Finau, Cantlay, and Xander to follow. And surely more to follow. I don’t think LIV really needs the tour anymore and I think this was finally the big drop. But I still will not believe this until Jon himself says it. It’s heartbreaking. Edit: And if I’m incorrect on the rule changes then Jon is a complete sell out and he will have to live with his words

The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly.

JW comments do not show an in depth understanding of the LIV business model. Rahm is going for equity in a team and the PGA cannot provide it. If anything the PGA business model as a non profit is not sustainable. No major is going to garner an audience with 3 players of any stature trading wins in the next 3-5 years. The majors will soon no longer pay attention to the PGA and go their own way. Note the Rahm deal precedes the merger deadline. This was done to mute any counter deals negotiated by the PGA. I think they call this brinkmanship. In poker LIV is calling the PGA hand. If Rahm does join LIV look for more later. The PGA is soon to be in a position whereby LIV will have more say in operations whether they like it or not. If I were the OWGR staff, I would be updating my resume. LIV will be assigned sedes like in Tennis in lieu of ranking points as a go around. Old saying is "follow the money" and it won't be speculation anymore. Guys, the PGA is a 501(c)3 and does not issue stock so cannot sell equity. It is that simple.
