Hurricane Barry did nothing to the city of New Orleans. It didn't even rain much. Why did you say that in your opening?

lol what? I live in New Orleans and was litterally sitting on my front porch reading on my phone during the on and off rain of Barry. It was a nothing, people were walking their dogs down the street. Barry wasn't anything but a bunch of squalls and an off day to New Orleans.

Great piece; however, civilizations have been moving from one place to another since the dawn of time. This area suffered while New Orleans (and many newcomers) thrived. All a system of trade offs. The water will recede in the next several hundred years and flood and recede, repeating the cycle forever. Beautiful setting.

I was born in Hammond Louisiana which is close to Baton Rouge and it's not a good place to live if u are a nice person. Also the state of Louisiana is very racist that's something I have to live with being born there. I wish someone could write me back I was adopted illegally and my parents got away with that.

Im from Louisiana, I now know how hilarious news is. They exaggerate and try to make stories sound WAY more dramatic then the story is. The narrative they are pitching is just bogus. Louisiana will be just fine.

Rates of flooding have drastically increased, especially in New Orleans, even with $15 billion worth of new levies and seawalls. "Just fine" is an odd way to put it.

The land loss is considerable, though its that way for a reason. Without the levees which send the sediment into the ocean, hundreds of thousands of lives would be in immediate danger due to flooding. Unfortunately its a one or the other scenario.

Louisiana is lush green and nightlife is very lively, vibrant among the local Americans. I lived in Hammond for 3 months and love to live in Louisiana, with lots of car opportunities to purchase and live in brand new apartments under long heat weather. Missisipi delta in Biloxi Missisipi is very enticing to swim and enjoy hot , humid weather , with long walks in the white sands of Mexican SeaShore. I visited Louisiana, Missisipi, Alabama Mobile , Texas in the year 2014. Prior to that I always had visited and got masters education in Milledgeville , Macon Georgia, all of Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, California , towards Texas visited again all those states by car in the south in 1995-1996 years alone. If I could find any american girl I wish to settle in southern USA with her. My only wish from Jehova and Jesus. If one wants to live in Louisiana away from Hurricanes, families must choose Hammond and to the northern portions of the State that never seen any hurricanes in their city's lives, e.g. Alexandria Louisiana is very safe and can be made like St Charles Louisiana with luxury mansions and villas. First class restaurant prices in Louisiana for one person costs at least 80 USD with drinks, barber shop visit and hair cut costs at least 15 USDs for each customer. There are australian gasoline stations Kanguroo Gasoline Shops, Outback Steak Restaurants in all of Louisiana cities. In New Orleans, 10 british football fields are at your service to exercise football same as in England towns.
