I remember being very little and staying with my grandparents while the folks were off working. Everytime the farmer would dance at 1:52, my grandfather would dance along with him, even leap into the air toward the end as the farmer did. Even if he was out of the room doing chores, he'd find his way into the room at just the right time. He's getting very old now, and I'm much older than the young boy that watched him in awe. Funny how time flies by.

When my daughter was in early grade school she would ask me to skip with her when I would walk her home. Cars are going by us on the sidewalk as a man very near his 40's skips with his daughter. How we will let our baby girls publicly mortify us for their pleasure. One day it will be her fond memory from the distant past as it is mine now. 😊 ❤

One of the most perfect choices of classical music for a story... it perfectly fits the sense of overwhelming, unexpected, yet so overdue triumph that the story celebrates... that euphoric sense that even the smallest, most unbelievable beings... the underdogs, the fools, the outcasts of this world who are ridiculed or never taken seriously... that they all each are worthy and completely more than capable of greatness as well as anyone. It's a sense of victory that is joyous but never overly pompous and ostentatious - it starts out in the horns section but then moves to the softness, humility and dignified quality characterised by the orchestra's string section. It's a melody and a choice of orchestration which in a way says that yes, you can achieve greatness with all the usual trumpets and fanfare, but you can also more importantly do it with softness, kindness and grace... all of which is exactly everything that Babe the character... and the film... stand for... Love it so much!

Even as a kid I knew the theme from Babe was special. It speaks for itself as immensely beautiful and triumphant. I was not surprised to learn eventually it was one of the best classical pieces ever written (do yourself a favor and listen to that ORGAN in the original by Camille Saint Saens!). Another familiar experience was definitely Sleeping Beauty with the Tchaikovsky piece :)

as a proper classical music fan who usually doesnt like arrangements for films etc, i can say this is one of the best, some of you should listen to the symphony in full to realise the arrangers art, because as youl find out this melody only really comes thru in 2 mins out of the 38 mins it lasts lol :) us arrangers work very hard :)

The melody was not even an original by Camille Saint-Saëns, but from a madrigal by Franco-Flemish renaissance composer Jacques Arcadelt "Nous voyons que les hommes".
