White Sox are the example in this class, unfortunately. Oakland can't pick in the top ten either, but they're part of revenue-sharing (they've had a lotto pick past two years and that's the max there.) Luckily for Chicago, the 2025 crop of prospects isn't the best (I'd say its slightly worse than 2024's class.) 2026, meanwhile, looks absolutely loaded and on par with 2023's class already. They just played their last day in Oakland, and if everything goes according to their ownership's plans, then they'll have played in 5 different cities before any other team has left even their third metro area in baseball. Even the LA Rams won't have moved as much unless you count moving from downtown LA to Orange County.

They keep mentioning those 1899 Spiders, but the fact they completed a full 154-game schedule is the most remarkable thing about that team, considering they played solely on the road after just 42 home games. Completely different era, set of circumstances. In no way were they a Major League team, with just one actual MLB’er left (Joe Quinn) following a near-total purge of the roster to St. Louis. Here’s the most eye-opening thing about Chicago’s season: just twice have they scored 10 or more runs. Both times at home, vs. Colorado and the Yankees. To show how different the times are, that 20-win Cleveland “team” scored 10 or more runs seven times…losing four of those games.
