NIce video! I almost fell for third trap in one of my games. In trap 1, red doesn't have to do 車 八平 九 to take the other chariot, they can do 馬九退八 and lose only one of their chariots.

Question: When red advances the chariot r6+7 and black must answer with the horse to prevent red from blocking it, why does he have to do h2+1? If he develops the horse with 2+3 doesn't that let him protect the spot next to the general?

You are talking about the Trap 3 right? If Black H2+3 Red will move chariot aside R6 to 7 to attack on that horse. And it has no one protect

By the way, all the moves in these trap are not all exactly and are not best choice, it have a lot of mistake, that why it can making a trap, If both sides move exactly, there is nothing to catch. Must be 1 side move wrong right? :D

NO HOPE GAMING just because I have seen another strategy where red R6+7, then R9+1, R9=6 and black horse moves H2+1 (a move which is not so good either because he can do nothing from there apart from being blocked) so I couldn't really guess why that move was not available

Yeah, both moves are available, and Black also can play like that at this case, still have the way to defend. But at this video I can't show all the plan, I just choose 1 case
