Jeremy Bentham was a British philosopher, just like ... John Locke (1632-1704). Funny theory : who are the only 2 persons to call John "Mr Locke" ? Who told John "next time you see me, you owe me one" ? Who John help just after that on the island ? Walt. There is a theory that says Walt and Abaddon were the same persons. Walt have "powers", he can be in different places (remember what Ms Klugh asking Michael about Walt in the episode "3 minutes", "is Walt ever appear in a place he wasn't supposed to be" (something like that) and remember who appears to John when Ben shoots him in season 3, episode 22 ? Walt, older when he was supposed to be in the USA (NY if I remember). They are "African American" both, and when Abaddon brought John to Walt he wasn't on John's side, he was near the car, for all other people Abaddon brought John, he was near him. I don't know if it's true, but it matches a lot. In a show like Lost, I think it's highly possible, too many coincidences. What a sad episode. What an amazing acting, once again. Locke and Ben scene are always amazing, always well written, always well played. They deserve better career. At least "Locke" will be in the new spin of The Walking Dead.
@reatores Жыл бұрын
Oh, they definetely should be more well known, they're amazing actors! That's really interesting, I think it could be possible... we'd have to consider Walt travelled through time (after going back to the island with Hurley and Ben) in order to work for Widmore and things stay as they always were, right? Cool.

Ben saying "Jack bought a ticket" shouldn't be a lie because Jack was on a plane when he read Jeremy Bentham's death on the newspaper. It might take a few days until they found Locke's body and the news ended up on the paper but it can't be too long. Because when Jack met Kate on the airport (Season 3 finale) he said "I've been flying A LOT... To Sydney, Singapore, etc to crash and end up on the island" so the flight he's seen Locke's news on the paper wasn't his first long distance flight. He should have had at least a few flights to justify saying "a lot" between the time he's seen Locke at the hospital and that flight he's seen the newspaper. So, when Ben said "Jack bought a ticket" it has to be true as I said a few days later they'll find Locke's body and when Jack reads the news he's already saying he flies a lot. On the contrary, I'm a little surprised to hear Jack just bought his 1st ticket when Locke is already released from the hospital and decided to actively commit suicide, prepared the robe, etc... I'd imagine Jack would already have a couple flights till then... Maybe Locke chose to be released early.
@reatores Жыл бұрын
See, that's exactly how I feel about that. By the time Ben said that to Locke, I felt it was too early for Jack to have bought a ticket. But they don't actually say how long has passed, so, all we can do is wonder. And also, Jack told Kate at the airport "every Friday night I take a flight". So, that indicates that he did that once a week, and for him to say "I've been flying a lot", I imagine it was at least 3 times. Which would mean 3 weeks.
@astragalusson Жыл бұрын
@@reatores Ok. I've forgotten about the "every friday night" line which makes it even more complicated to me. What I can't comprehend in what you're saying, why do you say too early? I think it's too late for Jack to buy a ticket the day Ben killed Locke. Because if this "booking" is really Jack's first, he needs to fly "a lot" until they find Locke's body (and the news end up on paper Jack will read on the plane, probably the next day) which looks a little far-fetched, especially ifJack only flies on Fridays. Based on your "3 weeks" assumption, it must have took 3 weeks to find Locke's body. Is it possible? Yeah. But, I'd think they would find the body sooner. I'd buy up to 2 weeks passing much better for example but then why would Jack say "a lot" for just 2 trips (4 flights with returns), which also doesn't make sense because Jack names 3 example cities (Tokyo-Singapore-Sydney) for his destinations. So it must have really took at least 3-4 weeks until they've found Locke's body and the news ended up on paper. I think Jack could even buy a ticket later in the day he's seen Locke on the hospital. So he could have made a couple of trips (or at least one) until Locke is exchanged from the hospital and acted to commit suicide, unless Locke got out of the hospital very quickly after Jack-Locke conversation which I doubt because he was in a serious car crash and he already had a broken leg.
@reatores Жыл бұрын
Oh, and I had forgotten about the destinations he mentioned! That makes it even more close to what I thought. What I meant by "too early" was that Jack left the hospital room really angry with Locke. Like "here comes this crazy old man again with this destiny talk". So, I thought it would take days for him to realize Locke could be actually right. But then again, as I said in the video, Jack's beard is an indication of his mental health stages. And you can see he has a short beard in this hospital scene. So he might actually have been thinking about his "destiny", or at least realized how miserable his life has been after he left. If that's the case, maybe it was only a matter of hours until he really decided to buy a ticket.
@letsrock1729 Жыл бұрын
@@astragalusson Interesting discussion. I personally think these timings are a writing error, because there's no way Locke's corpse could look that good if it had taken weeks to find his body. His corpse would be an unviewable nightmare if he had been left undiscovered/unrefrigerated for a matter of weeks.

31:58 - Great reaction! * SPOILER ALERT* . . Don't forget that it was ELOISE who told Ben that they needed to bring EVERYONE back to the island. So, it was her idea (told to Ben) to get the Oceanic Six AND John Locke. After Locke was dead, they needed to bring Locke's body with them. Prior to Locke's death, Charles Widmore also wanted to bring everyone back -- including Locke and even Walt. This was probably for the reasons to be seen in Season 6 (i.e., "candidates"). However, I think that Ben didn't expect that John Locke would return to life. He likely only believed that it would help get the plane to where it needed to go -- the island. Ben only wants back on the island (as did Widmore). I don't think that either one of them were concerned with anything other than being a "leader" on that island. They knew very little about Jacob or his nemesis.

A sad, pivotal episode, just like every John episode. John’s arguments are very simple, maybe too much. I mean, if I’m off the island, I’ll need more than a vague prophecy to be convinced to come back. But that’s the point. John always needed just a sign, just a push, to act. That’s very clear in the Jack/John dialogue in the hospital. Both have sound arguments from their respective points of view. The only one trying to be manipulative was John, though. Of course from John’s perspective he was not manipulative, he was desperately trying to convince a non believer (hence, the letter). Everybody else made great points, but we know the main event was the hospital. Because Jack is the least likely to believe John, but the most likely to try to save who stayed behind. Even this episode can’t be really supportive of anyone’s side. On the island, John is alive, so it appears he was right (not really, but it makes appear to be that way). Outside the island, John ended his “pathetic little life” (as John called it in the past and Jack reminded us about it in this episode) in a sad, unimportant, way, being manipulated one last time. Only time will tell which one is right. This is maybe the worst thing Ben did in the show, in the worst way possible. He killed John the same way Anthony died, just out of jealousy about John being special. Even though John being special is something John basically told himself in the timeskip period, he’s alive now, so he must really be special, right? Right??
@reatores Жыл бұрын
Hahaha, you jokingly asked that last question, so I'll keep playing this game without a spoiler alert. There's so many "special" characters in this show. John, Walt, Desmond... and someone we can't name... yet. Right? 😁 I always thought that letter was kinda... mean. If I got that letter, I would totally think John killed himself because of me.

Finally, an episode that will make them love Ben. lololol. Yeah, it does some strange doesn't it? Some of the people went to the main island when the flash happened on flight 316, some went to the small island. I guess maybe people went wherever they needed to be. Maybe we'll find out why. And who to believe? Widmore, or Ben? I don't really think Kate 'hated' Locke, I think she didn't understand him. Look at all she's seen on the island? In spite of that, she's never been a person of faith. Locke was a man of faith, he had faith in the island, faith that it's a special place. But not Kate. She's just, practical. ...someone's chasing me, I have to run....someone's been abducted, we have to get them back... She's never been a believer, and she still isn't.

You're very right about Kate! I think "practical" is the perfect word to describe her in that matter. About some people going to the main island and other to the small island, the most confusing part to me is: was the flash inside Ajira the same one as the one that happened when Locke turned the wheel?
